LOL - i have 512mb - but biniQ still takes a good pause to open that file. ONce you fix all the stuff mentioned above though - its done, so you can fiddle with mbases as MUCH as you like after that

hey,

I've got a question. What if you create a new ship, and the texture looks fine in milkshape, but when you import it, it's screwed? I already tryed flipping the texture, and it's square. I'm out of ideas. Can any one look at this mod for me?

Chips...this is great. Now, I am not savvy enough to know what codes are what, so, if I open mbases.ini, and it does corrupt as stated, I won't have a clue on what to look for to make fixes. Are there standard corruptions that fixes need to be made to, that everyone gets, or is it unique to each person's files?

Changing SP NPC heads and bodies.

You may wonder why I want to do this but it is just a matter of not understanding why it doesn't work, I guess. Also, I wanted to makethe SP game different in this way just for the heck of it. I made a mistake and posted this question in the editing tutorial section a while ago and I see that it has been removed.

Basically, I experimented and tried to change King's head, body and arms from male to female. I edited costume.ini, mission01a.ini and bodyparts.ini and swapped out king's "scrote" and "hatcher" male comm helmet with a Kaitlyn head, a hatcher female body and a hatcher female comm helmet and assumed that I would have a femal NPC using King's male voicing.

I did not crash out so I guess I was somewhere on the money. But when I landed on Pitssburgh (and also in the comm link pop up window) what I got was a really weird looking body with arms that looked all twisted out of shape with a fully functioning Kaitlyn head. I tried reversing out the arms, swapping left for right but that didn't do anything.

It just didn't work well and I was wondering whether I missed something or whether you just cannot do this much messing around with NPCs in SP.

Can you help?

Sorry - cookies are screwed - this doesn't appear as posted recently - so sorry bout the delay. I forgot about this one from someone - i did lots of trial and error and found this out: (it seemed to be working fine for me)

TO CHANGE MAX AMMO CARRYING CAPACITY

MAX_PLAYER_AMMO = a value you like - ie 100 here

Put that in the constants.ini file - under the [constants header thats the one at the top! Therefore - it will look like this:

[Constants
COLLISION_DAMAGE_FACTOR = 0.500000
MUSIC_CROSS_FADE_DELAY = 10.000000
MUZZLE_CONE_ANGLE = 40
PLAYER_COLLISION_GROUP_HIT_PTS_SCALE = 3
PLAYER_ATTACHED_EQUIP_HIT_PTS_SCALE = 5
MAX_PLAYER_AMMO = 10000 ;to be able to carry 10000 missiles

Okay - @ Whomever asked about the ships files. Sorry, i cannot model, and know sweet nothing about modeling, apart from its not easy. However, the poeple to ask about that are these people:
Imagine
Wanderer
Victor
Leonhart

All of whom can be found in the thread of Wanderer vs Leonharts battleship specs......or someething along those lines. Those guys are modelling nuts - so they will be best poised to answer questions abuot modelling. Right - next was.....

Fixing the Mbases.ini file after corruption due to decoding

This is a brief 'how to' on this. It is the same for everyone if you open it with a biniQ application. Basically you know if its corrupted cos when you go for a mission on the jobs board at a base, it will say come back when on better terms, even though those guys LOVE your ass!! OKay - in Mbases.ini

This happens for EVERY instance in the file!!
Here is an example - its the first time you will see this okay;

[MBase
nickname = Li01_01_Base
local_faction = li_p_grp
diff = 1
msg_id_prefix = gcs_refer_base_Li01_01_Base

[MVendor
num_offers = 8, 12

[BaseFaction
faction = li_n_grp
weight = 13
offers_missions = mission_type = DestroyMission, 0.000000, 0.112387, 30
npc = li0101_lnavy_001_f
npc = li0101_lnavy_002_m
npc = li0101_lnavy_003_f

Notice the bold line? That is the line we are interested in:

It should look like this:

offers_missions = true
mission_type = DestroyMission, 0.000000, 0.112387, 30

but it doesn't. So - the true has been omitted by the decoding process. To fix the file you have to go back through the Whole of the file and put in =true again everywhere!! LOL
So every time you see this:
offers_missions = mission_type = DestroyMission, 0.000000, 0.112387, 30

You should be seeing this:
offers_missions = true
mission_type = DestroyMission, 0.000000, 0.112387, 30

Its a pain i know, but you gotta do it!! As a word of warning, don't get impatient. do it right, slowly scroll through checking the whole document - it will take about an hour or two hours to do! ONce done, SAVE IT AND MAKE A BACK UP!! That way you NEVER have to fix it again!!!

The problem from what i remember overhearing once, is that when you try to make a male character female, there are different referance points on the models and stuff for the things that are attached, so just swapping them over means that you are in effect still using a 'basis' of a male body with female stuff on it - which has different references. Now, i am sure that Reynen explained this somewhere, so the tutorials section, or a search should yield you the results. Must admit, i have never fiddled with the cosstumes and stuff........although i do know someone had trent walking round in suspenders and a french maids outfit. sadly he never released those costumes here..........wooulda been funny.

By the way, basically if i have to do a search to find out what people are after cos i don't know, then affraid its time to get searching people. I do try stuff that interests me if you ask and i don't know, but other than that, i won't try something totally new out for everyone to tell em about it cos i don't have that much time!! LOL
Good luck - but i am sure its somewhere around.

Hi, I want to know where I can get a translater thing for the weapon/sheild names. Such as:

Adv. Champion H. F. = shield01_mark10_hf

Post Sun Sep 28, 2003 2:46 pm

Sorry - this isn't a tourist info office - i don't give directions to stuff like this. Here is a hint: Use the forum search button. There is a post somewhere of all ids names to friendly names.
This below isn't aimed at you in particular - but something for anyone and everyone who is posting questions etc to consider first - as i feel that some people aren't actually trying anything first.
So - here goes:

In future please don't post questions like this when all it needs is a very small amount of effort on your part to find the things you ask for. If you are new, read the stickies at the top of the forum before posting. Search for things first. Basically i am happy to help out with modding problems people have providing they have put some effort into finding it out first. Put it this way - why should i spend what can be up to nearly 2 hours a day on large, detailed, and understandable answers to questions when you cannot be arsed to take 5 mins to do a thorough search!
If you have done a search, and don't understand, or it doesnt' work then we are here. If you cannot find stuff first - then ask away.....if you have NO clue where to start modding, and why it works etc, then we can sort you out as well. However, this isn't an automated service - we are people sat at a console spending our time here! Every time i answer something it takes time and effort of MY life to help you out. I get absoloutely nothing in return - neither does accushot! So please try to find things yourself before posting - if for no other reason, out of respect for the amount of time we spend doing this each day / week

Chips - maybe I'm confused - but I use binilite to decode - and haven't noticed any problems...

If I had problems though - I'd fix em w/ GVIM

Given this:
offers_missions = mission_type = DestroyMission, 0.000000, 0.112387, 30

Is supposed to be this:
offers_missions = true
mission_type = DestroyMission, 0.000000, 0.112387, 30

The command would be:
:%s/^\(offers_\a\+ = \)\(mission_.*\n\)/\1true\r\2\r/

I hope that comes out right -
That should fix every broken offers_missions line in the file.

Chips...Okay...gotta problem.

Everything went fine with the above instructions. However, I don't know where to place the [BaseGood information. I searched everywhere, I beileve, that BinQDU let's me. I just haven't found a place that will take the info, or it is used elsewhere. I'm a bit lost at this point.

I just read this thread. This friggn' thing needs a map. You touched on a topic I've been bashing my head with, on page way the hell back there, about trying to change the turret view for a flyable Bretonian Gunship mod. Any luck on your end with this? I can change the third person view in the shiparch camera offset values, but nothing I've tried in the cockpit tether values does anything. All I get is the same rectal shot of the gunship or as I move my view I'm looking into the ship. Anyway, wonderfull work on this thread it answered a great many questions I've had.

Always aim for center mass.

"okay, this is what I know..."

You posted the following in regards to Selling stuff at Gammu:

Okay for stuff selling on gammu - not sure which one is which, but lets see now...
Subxeros misc database helps here - LOL:
ew06_02_base is the one for the robots!
Okay - to sell nano bots you need to........hang on - it doesn't have anything cept the old bar does it? Okay - in that case we need to give it a room. So - go to your freelancer folder. Find the folder for ew06, then look inside. See a folder rooms? Go into that thing then!
Copy and paste ew06_01_equipment - then rename it to ew06_02_equipment. Now then you have a room. Open up the old old files again wiht your ini weapon of choice (I recommend BiniQDU). NOw plonk in the following lines:

[Room
nickname = Equipment
file = Universe\Systems\Ew06\Bases\Rooms\Ew06_02_equipment.ini

this is just letting it know that there is an equipment room on the base and that it is in the directory there!
Okay - that was actually lifted straight from ew06_01_base easy eh?
Oks - now go to your misc_equip.ini and copy any entry in there and just rename it as ew06_02_base instead (see below for small example)

[BaseGood
base = ew06_02_Base
MarketGood = ge_s_battery_01, 0, -1, 100, 100, 0, 1
MarketGood = ge_s_repair_01, 0, -1, 100, 100, 0, 1
MarketGood = nomad_gun01_mark03, 10, -1, 10, 10, 0, 1
MarketGood = nomad_gun01_mark02, 10, -1, 10, 10, 0, 1
MarketGood = nomad_gun01_mark01, 10, -1, 10, 10, 0, 1
MarketGood = nomad_turret01_mark01, 10, -1, 10, 10, 0, 1
MarketGood = nomad_dyson_turret01, 10, -1, 10, 10, 0, 1
MarketGood = nomad_lair_turret01, 10, -1, 10, 10, 0, 1
MarketGood = nomad_lair_turret02, 10, -1, 10, 10, 0, 1
MarketGood = special_nomad_gun01, 10, -1, 10, 10, 0, 1
MarketGood = special_nomad_gun02, 10, -1, 10, 10, 0, 1
MarketGood = special_nomad_gun03, 10, -1, 10, 10, 0, 1
MarketGood = nomad_cruise_disruptor01, 10, -1, 10, 10, 0, 1
MarketGood = nomad_torpedo01_rtc, 10, -1, 10, 10, 0, 1

Have some fun with that stuff too! LOL

Now, I did everything as you stated. But, when I went to place the above Oks - now go to your misc_equip.ini and copy any entry in there and just rename it as ew06_02_base instead (see below for small example) I could not find the correct file. I went to the misc_equip.ini and found that information well enough. No problem there. But I have searched high and low and can't seem to find where to put the above BaseGood code at. Everything else is working fine so far.
