nice idea, i think it was discussed already in some way on lancersreactor, yet it has one major flaw.
you would always have to restart the game/server (if in multiplayer) to use the new values for commodities...

it wouldnt be that hard to write such a program (but dont ask me, i only know a bit how to use .php ), but without (again...) having the source code from FL, such an efforts would not generete appropiate results i fear...

I am still working on the shaman...but i cant seem to be able to save the ship from gmax in quake III format... anyone has a solution?

Size it down to 10% and put export frames at 0-100. Model should be intact.

Update:
Ran into a couple of snags...
1) Can't get into the new systems. Just as you're coming out of the jumphole, you boot to desktop.
2) When you launch to meet King, as soon as they start talking, Trent's ship get's embedded in the middle of the docking ring.
(Once they stop talking, Trent's ship flies free, again.)

I sent you a collage of screenshots of the Perry test that I did.

And here's the results of the test:
1) I replaced Detroit Munitions with the model of Perry for ease of testing.
2) It's shorter than the dual-ringed Tradelane rings are.
(I think it needs to be about 4 times bigger.)
3) It becomes invisible when you get real close, under 400m.
4) Lighting works.
5) Forgot to look for turrets.
6) Clicking on it is very difficult.
Seems like the "center" is near the neck.
I had to click on Detroit's secondary unit to target Perry.
(probably because I forgot to create a SUR file for it.)
7) Docking works, but couldn't see where I was entering at.
(By the way the ship reacted, I'd say I docked from underneath.)
8) And I think it was upside-down.

What are you talking about How does that have anything to do with me?

@Everyone, this I found interesting on WCNews.com. Apparently it is an early drawing of a ship that wasn't included in the original Privateer. It looks like a cross between the use of a Galaxy and the sleekness of a Centurion. Perhaps called the Galaxion or the Century!

Hehe, I actually received that earlier today and started modeling it. Wanted to keep it a surprise until I finished the model, but it'd probably be in the next news update anyway.

This ship (unnamed) is the mystical fifth Privateer player ship. It was intended as a racer (hence the "spoiler" fins near the rear).

I hope nobody minds my <RANT>, but why make a proposed 5th player's ship?
When we don't even have the first four yet!!!
I mean, aren't the Tarsus, Orion, and Galaxy, more important?

psycho, that would be fantastic. Maybe there is a way to integrate it on a server end as well.. maybe a server reset every day could scramble the commodity prices to keep things fluctuating.. or maybe there could be a way to integrate this real-time.. ahh well.

If you want to tackle it, i would say go for it! It could be useful, and it would give something for future modders to chew on if they can.
