Privateer: The Reckoning mod v2.0
Here you can find news, get help and comment about the Privateer / Wing Commander Total Conversion called ?Privateer: The Reckoning? and accompanying Mods
Ok, I have an idea on how to fake in crosshairs; but since I'm not having success exporting MS gun models visibly, perhaps someone more versed could do this: add a triangle or, better, a cross 'floating' a ways out in front of the gun. It won't physically affect anything, being outside the .sur range (I hope). This would have the effect of giving a range dot for each non-turret, non-missile gun. (those two using the cursor crosshairs anyway)

The Shaman, if you're doing the one in the game, not the one in the manual, would be cool.
(The Shaman & Jendavi images were swapped in my copy of the manual.)
The Karnenan would be a nice addition.
My personal favorite has always been the Skecis Mk II.
Are you going to try to replicate the paint schemes?
And yes, email them to me at the address LR has.

@Warzog, this is a simplistic commodity list.

Obviously certain bases may or not produce everything in the list of "Produces." But it is a good guidemap to how the Gemini Sector works. You know, I never did find Space Salvage to be worth while ever in Privateer except picking it from the occasional ship I destroyed. But now that people can go into debris fields and mine this stuff it will actually be a neat thing in the game.
Also, are you going to have asteroids have the same shield and hull devastating effect as Privateer did? Or are you keeping FL values for that?

who can take care of converting a starbase I have (known as Bluepoint Station from WC4)? I wish I could do it, but again, not time for that... And what about the Caernaven? Bob, you have the model, haven't you?

Hi Guys,
Not to stick my nose into your business or anything, but I noticed a post by Sir S:
One thing you can do is alter the amount of space (volume) a given unit of choice commodities takes up in the cargo hold. In the select_equip.ini just alter the volume:

[Commodity
nickname = commodity_tradelane_parts
ids_name = 261645
ids_info = 65903
units_per_container = 18
pod_appearance = cargopod_blue
loot_appearance = lootcrate_blue
decay_per_second = 0
volume = 1 <------- alter this value
hit_pts = 250

I've been doing that with my mod and by simply changing the value to 2, you effectively "halve" the amount of that particular commodity any player can carry in their cargo holds.
If you've already explored this option, forgive my interruption.

As an aside, is it possible to limit the number of commodities you can buy when they're available? Privateer did that and it would make it harder to make a profit trading in the game.

I've been doing that with my mod and by simply changing the value to 2, you effectively "halve" the amount of that particular commodity any player can carry in their cargo holds.
If you've already explored this option, forgive my interruption.

Thanx!
But what I believe Sir Spectre was referring to was the fact that in Privateer 1, the quantity of each commodity available for purchase at each base, changed every time you went there.
So, one time you might fill your cargo hold...
The next, they may have none...
The next, maybe one or two..
And so on, and so forth.
It's one of those Privateer 1 abilities that's been missing from many newer games.
However, having said that...
I can use your suggestion to make items that are naturally bulky, actually take up more room.
IE:
Prefabs take up more room than a case of liquor.
A Holographic unit takes up more room than a robot servant.
And so on...
Not bad!
Again, thanx!

I was unable to find any ship databases for Privateer 2 online, but I still have my Manual that came with the game. I could scan those, but it will be in black and white.
Sir S
Terran Confederation Engineers Page has some info. But url=http://www.wcnews.com/ships/WC CIC ships has better stuff.
Oh yeah they found the 10th planet one more to go.
