Privateer: The Reckoning mod v2.0
Here you can find news, get help and comment about the Privateer / Wing Commander Total Conversion called ?Privateer: The Reckoning? and accompanying Mods
------
I hope nobody minds my <RANT>, but why make a proposed 5th player's ship?
When we don't even have the first four yet!!!
I mean, aren't the Tarsus, Orion, and Galaxy, more important?
<rant over>
------
I suppose I could slap temporary textures on the models we have; in fact, I probably should do that now. Unless we can get a dedicated texturer on the team, though, we can't import them into the mod. I've asked BoH-Havok if he could take care of the Racer-ship so the rest of us are free.
BTW, sent a resized Perry, along with a possible systems fix, check your email.

How many use your computer?
I'm the only one that even goes near this one.
And yet...
I HAVE to have Owner, Admin, and various other user bs takin up space on MY computer.
Every other Windows allowed you to delette that.
And what's with "Links?"
I've deleted it a hundred times, but it keeps coming back, just like the stupid OWNER's configurations!
I have several user names, and passwords, but it'll only use the first one I used.
(It wants me to change users)
I loaded Freelancer.
And without changing a thing, it moved access from "owner" to "guest."
WTF?
I only need one setting!
Not a gazillion!
Multi-user's should be an option!
With the PRO version, not Home version.
Let 'em download it if they want it!
Not the friggin' primary setup!
Best Windows my but!
Let me guess...
It's your first version?
Win98SE was their best Windows ever!
And I've been messin' with it since v3.11!
(1989) (Couldn't stand the earlier versions, so I never bought them.)
Edit:
All of my old stuff works with it...
Parallel port printer...
Serial port printer...
External 2xCd-RW drive...
(All from pre-Win98SE days.)

I just went from Win98 to WinXP and I have to say I love the upgrade. I never bothered dealing with the user accounts issue. As long as it is just me I just kept it as is and I've never had trouble. No log on or installation issues whatsoever. It really is great! I've been able to make my customizations with no conflicts or unnecessary restored items. The system alone is so much more stable.

Whatcha mean? No log on?

Mine has an Administrator's account, and an Owner's account, All Users account, Local Settings, Network Settings, etc.
Can't delete the folders, just the stuff in them.
But that doesn't help, because some programs access Admin, some Owner's etcetera, etcetera, etc.
And if there's a way to put them into one account, or to remove all the BS, I haven't found it, yet!
No Installation issues? You must be using Windows 98SE, not this pos!
Stuff works in 98, in X-treme P-os, you gotta tell it what system a program was written for, or else it won't even run.
And if THAT's not an installation issue, what is? (Getting it to run is part of installing.)
As to the more stable BS, I run one program, and my quick launch buttons disappear, run another, an qlb's I didn't make show up.

Nope!
If I did, I probably deleted it thinking it was spam.
Use the subject line: Privateer Shaman.
Back to my anti-XP <Rant>
I spent the day uploading games.
Went from 127 games on my Win98SE Notebook to 18 on this XP(os) Desktop.
And 3 of those 18 really are lousy!
Where's Bill Gates when you really need him?
He knew how to make a reverse-compatible OS.
That's what happens when you let kids take over.
<Rant Over>

@Warzog, just hide the folders if you can't delete them. I don't know what you're doing differently. The only thing that strikes me right off is that you seem to be setting up separate accounts on the computer whereas I have not. However, I don't know the system well enough to go through it with any type of expertise. But so far I've had no complications.
I realize now how many little things about Win98 added up to be a nuisance. It's nice to have everything work properly.
The only older version incompatibility I've run into so far was running Monkey Island 3 which was made for Windows 95. To get it to work properly I had to do a very simple .pif properties editing to make it run under Windows 98 rules (I could've done 95, but 98 feels safer). And now it works perfectly.
Haven't tried any DOS games yet, but frankly I'm not sure I ever will. I've been growing weary of my old games. I think the oldest I'll be installing is WC: Prophecy and Secret Ops. And Starlancer. No more Privateer 2, Privateer 1 works fine on my pentium 133 ... I going off-topic.
The point is, XP can be a very good system, after the initial shock of some things that you did a certain way in 98 are done another way in XP.
Oh and I can't wait to find out what you think of "Stickykeys." It's something you'll come across completely by accident, but once you do you can't avoid it unless you turn it off.
