Ok, thanks Chips, I got it working. Now another question.

How do I get the transport to have dynamic cargo pods? I know how to put them on manually in the goods.ini file, but they just stay there no mater what you have in the hold. I want to make it so that the commodity a transport pilot buys changes the cargo pods carried by the transport.

Say I buy water. I want the blue, cylindrical cargo pods to show up on my ship.
Now I sell the water and by consumer goods. I want the red container boxes to show up, and when I'm empty, nothing shows up on the model while flying

I don't know if this is even possible.

@battlefleet - i don't think you can. they are a hardpoint specification in the goods file, and cargo is only in the cargohold. I don't think there is a way of getting round that at all. Not sure really to be honest! I cannot think how it would be done though. unless you made cargo pods equipable on a specific hardpoint (the cargopod hardpoint) and then attached them via the usual equip method.

Is there a way to figure out what the optimal class weapon for a edited ship is without having to go in manually and try each gun or turret?

Well - optimal class depends on power supply, and nothing more. Choose what class you want to go up to with weapons, then choose a power unit to suit it. If you like, you can take a spectrum of power useage by weapons, then average out that power, and on your maximum mount ratings, you should have about 10 seconds of firepower. Then work out what would give you 30 seconds (average energy drain) and then take that and look it up. As you can see, that is extensive, so i just think of a ship similar, and use that......
