While I have at least some of my samity left, I need to ask for some MAJOR help. I'm an old dog and trying to learn new tricks is difficult at best. I modded a ship in Rhino, exported it into MS, no prob..grouped the "parts" named them, got some textures, put em on. Here is where my problems start...the UTF editor doesn't seem to recognize it's own files (won't save and then re-open it withpout it being completely blank), When I try to test this ship, I get nothing! it just ain't there..I get the "dust-off effect at launch, etc, just the old "invisable ship" thing. (Stealth is good...except when ya WANT to see it!) Yes, I've triple checked the LOD range (0, 2000), made dbl sure that tex's are 24bit and flipped, scaled this thing up, down and sideways. I don't know whats wrong with this and I'm at my wits end here. Could someone please offer some help to get this thing up and "flying"????I can readily E-mail the MS3, .cmp and tex files. Thank you.
Alright...I will put on the "Dunce" hat for a while..." A COMMA!...A Comma...My Kingdom for a Comma!" I did some examining and found my error...wouldn't think a little thing like a missing comma would cause such a headache but it did. However, I have noticed that : A., The ship blinks in and out during the "movie" cut scenes, ie just after "lift off" and going through the docking rings. I seem to recall something similar happening in StarLancer but don't recall how to remedy this. It seems to make no difference whether the ship is 2000 polys or 10,000 polys. My ship often "jitters" like too much caffine in the fuel tanks. As I'm still in the "tweaking" stage of this endeavor, any suggestions here would help. Also, this things maneuvers like a brick, would this have anything to do with the position of the XYZ axis? Thanks, in advance. Howard.
Howard,
Any custom ship jumps off the screen during cutscenes...Anton developed a tool that can fix this problem. You can download the tool here. To fix the handling issue you need to edit shiparch.ini. Make sure the mass is relatively low (75-100 is good for smaller fighters, 100-150 for larger fighters...generally). Also, check the handling specs on it, that is the section that looks like this
Of course the numbers will be different depending on the ship...Try changing the numbers to the numbers of a ship that you would like yours to handle similarly to, that may also fix the "jittering" of the ship. You can adjust them from then on also, it's always good to experiment with them.

This one. It's like taking a step back a little to get the bigger picture.
Then this one.
There is a link that you can download the complete turorial on it. Just gotta look for it. Good luck.
