Here you can find news, get help and comment about the Privateer / Wing Commander Total Conversion called ?Privateer: The Reckoning? and accompanying Mods

Post Tue Apr 27, 2004 5:24 pm

Black_Phoenix:
Your repairs were about 99.9% effective, thanx!
On the Vaktoth, the right wingtip is perfect, now, but the left is still messed up.
And the Vaktoth's turret barely works... Like once every 10 tries.

Chemus:
I've been waiting for you to email those files to me, again.
Luckily, I discovered a copy in my deleted email box.
(I'd forgotten which email you'd sent them to.)
BTW-I haven't checked them out yet, but I think/hope the crashes were due to the DLL's!
EDIT:
Just checked them out.
Crashes FL bad. Had to reinstall it. But I got this error message:
C:\work\builds\dalibs\dalibs-build\build\Src\RenderPipeline\DX8\rp_dx8.cpp(2292) :
: WARNING:General:create_device: D3DERR_INVALIDCALL
Does that help?

Update:
When I deleted the DLL's the Orion stopped shaking!
So, it's back in the opening sequence.
I think that the DLL's are causing everyone's problems.

I need some help people.
I can't duplicate the bugs that you're reporting.
And because I can't, I need your help to prevent the next release from having them too.
At the top of the page is a list of things you can try, that may remove the bugs.
There is also a list of information that you can collect for me that may help me to isolate them.
Excluding the 96-Icon files, and the 72-ship files, there are over 40 files that the bugs could be hiding in.
Those 40 files take up over 4mb, and thousands of lines of code.
(The ShipArch.ini has 8400 lines, alone.)
Finding a simple mistake; an omission, misspelling, etcetera, is a daunting task.
Please...
If you have the chance...
HELP!!!!
(thanx!)

Update:
Got the Paradigm in as the Kusari and Bretonian Destroyers.
Got the Crossbow in as the Kusari and Bretonian Gunboats.
Got the Broadsword in as the Rheinland Gunboat.
Got the Morningstar working, it's an extra, currently unassigned, ship.
The Gothri now has four, yes four, thrusters.
(Thanx to Black_Phoenix.)
The Steltek Drone is next on the list...
(And it'll be another extra ship.)
The Broadsword, Crossbow, and Paradigm, will not be available to players.
The Gunboat & Cruiser slots mess up the controls and make them unflyable, except by the computer.

Warzog : loaded 2.4 up again and found these error messages in my flspew ..

E:\FL\Scratch\Source\Common\GoodList.cpp(450) : *** ERROR: Cannot open goods file ..\data\equipment\engine_good.ini

E:\FL\Scratch\Source\Common\Archetype.cpp(60) : *** ERROR: ArchDB::Get(2363412559) failed

no idea why its E:\FL ... my games folder is on D drive (d:\games\ms games\freelancer)

to me having a problem with the engine file would stop any of the menu screens working , ie the ships cant move and the game expects them to , so maybe have q look at it ?

im going to chuck the engine ini from 2.3 in to 2.4 and see if that fixes part of the problem, will report back in the morning (its 11:12pm here and i should head to bed .. ugh)

yo zog u b my hero dont mess with the mission payouts the bigest complaint i get from my mp payers is the lack of pay & diffuctly in the missions if u re set them 2 FL levels then I have 2 use some server side mods 2 inhanse them and they only work in manhatten
I would rather u re set them back to the higher lvs makes it mutch more rewarding 2 do the missions
also I am running your ship pack on my test server and I am having a blast but I am alone in my fun it seems that people who play MP would rather download whole mod rather that a ship pack
so here is my Idea put your working ships in the org FL raise the AI raise the mission payouts price the ships 2 match FL pricing ,put in pilots/prisioners/vips as droped commadies and as cargo
put in your gemini sector if u want allong with there fractions/commadies and release it 4 mp I will put it up on a 24/7 server
and the world will b a better place

Have A Great Day

Mannfred:
Yeah, that looks like a corrupt file.
You may need to redownload the mod.

The "E" drive is a RamDrive that FL sets up.

DrKrEaper:
Alright, I'll put the mission payments back as they were.
But I'll leave the salvage from battles as it is.

BUG REPORT#1:
Found the "Movies" bug:
In the Market_Commodities.ini file in the Equipment folder:
change:
MarketGood = commodity_ship_hull_panels, 0, -1, 0, 0, 1, 400000
to:
MarketGood = commodity_ship_hull_panels, 0, -1, 0, 0, 1, 1.400000

BUG REPORT#2:
I received an FLspew.txt file from one of the players.
Here's a copy of my response:

The first part is just setup.
This line is caused by the Tarsus, or the Galaxy's bad texture:
C:\work\builds\dalibs\dalibs-build\build\Src\RendComp\VMesh\VMPartArch.cpp(697) : NOTICE:General: VMESH: couldnt find material 0
(Everytime a Tarsus or Galaxy flys by, you'll get that line.)
This line means you shot a ship, and a part flew off:
E:\FL\Scratch\Source\Common\CAttachedEquip.cpp(209) : *** WARNING: Disconnecting equipment with FATE_UNKNOWN, using FATE_DISAPPEAR
Here's where you left the New York System:
E:\FL\Scratch\Source\Server\space\StarSys.cpp(774) : *** WARNING: StarSystem::exit(): CLI(1) System(Li01)
Here's where you entered the Texas System:
E:\FL\Scratch\Source\Server\space\StarSys.cpp(540) : *** WARNING: StarSystem::enter(): CLI(1) System(Li04)
Here's a Galaxy, or a Tarsus:
C:\work\builds\dalibs\dalibs-build\build\Src\RendComp\VMesh\VMPartArch.cpp(697) : NOTICE:General: VMESH: couldnt find material 0
Here's where the computer said, "Docking":
E:\FL\Scratch\Source\Client\space\StarSys.cpp(716) : *** WARNING: Voice message 2351700488 is invalid for voice 3073825485
Here's what caused the crash:
C:\work\builds\dalibs\dalibs-build\build\Src\RenderPipeline\DX8\rp_dx8.cpp(2292) : WARNING:General:create_device: D3DERR_INVALIDCALL
E:\FL\Scratch\Source\Client\cmn\RenderMgr.cpp(576) : *** WARNING: RenderMgr - failed to create_buffers(1024,768) -1,-1
That's a DirectX error.
About the only thing that'll cause that is a corrupt file.
And you're going to hate this, but, you need to delete the copy of the mod in the FLMM directory...
UNINSTALL, not REINSTALL, Freelancer...
Install Freelancer again after rebooting...
You could try using the copy of the Privateer mod that you have, but I'd say that you've got a corrupt copy.
If you do try using it again, you'll have to Uninstall FL, reboot, Install FL, and then download a new copy.
Oh, and simply deleteing the mod won't help...
Your installation of FL is now, also corrupt, and will crash with/without other mods.
And since the the copy you have is corrupt, it'll corrupt every installation of FL that you make.

If you look several of my posts up on this page...
Where I explained that some files that Chemus sent me were causing the same error that's in the BUG REPORT#2 above...
You'll note that both crashes are caused by the same error.
If you look in your FLspew.txt file after a crash, and find those DirectX errors...
You've got a corrupt copy of the mod.
I'd recommend deleting the mod...
Uninstall FL...
(and that includes save games, settings, etc.)
Reboot...
Install FL again...
Download a new copy of the mod.

Has the "Galaxy" model a skin problem? right now after installing it looks like it was sprayed with different colored dots and random color bars in different places. Are you still working on the skin for the Galaxy freighter?

Quixotal:
Yepper!
The current skin is just a temporary, generic skin.
That's why BoH_Havoc is trying to email lvxoccvlta.
BoH_Havoc made the Galaxy...
And lvxoccvlta is trying to make a skin for it.

Mr. Warzog, Sir...I've uploaded the files you requested...I hope that there are no problems

Post Wed Apr 28, 2004 11:07 pm

Try [email protected] once more. cut and paste. I am absolutely certain that it works!

Ive had it for years.

also, the other email address, now defunct is [email protected] but I havent used that but once in a while since 1996.

Qyixotal:
That's just a working skin. They're still working on a final texture.

Note to self: Read the whole thread. Then I won't answer questions the developers have already answqered...

I don't know is this is a bug or not but here's what happened to me:

I keep a save game at all times called "start" in which I have the game at the beginning right after the opening cutscenes (you do not have the starflier yet) so I wouldn't have to sit through them. This save was made when the game was unmodded.

So I installed your mod and loaded up "Start". I talked to Juni (nice suit she has) but I right after that it said "Launch into space". I did not have a ship yet so I went to the equipment room (where I assume she should give me a tarsus). But no one was there. Now I am stranded on Manhattan and I am about to just start the game again (while modded) and see if that works. Can you recreate this?

By the way, EXCELLENT job Warzog!
Keep on keeping on!

Du7andal:
Most definately!
The problem is this:
The save game saves where you visited/are, who you like/hate, are liked/hated by, your ship, equipment, and cargo.
By using that "Start" save game, you're starting with no ship.
Our mod gives you a ship BEFORE you land on Manhattan.
So, by using a saved game from AFTER you land on Manhattan, you'll never get a ship.
Sorry about that!
AND...
The reason is two-fold:
1) Privateer was open-ended, you could play open-sandbox, or run the missions.
2) I've spent a lot of time redoing the Freeport 7 scene, and I'd like people to see it at least once!
So, nyaaah!!!

Found the Alaska (Mission 11) Error:
Delete the Data\Missions\M11\M11.ini file.
It's a hold-over from the now defunct Gemini Sector.
The ships are looking for a Gemini Sector Jumphole which doesn't exist in this mod.

Chemus:
They WORKED!!!

I need the MTalon, too!
(The RTalon is the same as the PTalon, and is out of the mod.)

Update:
The Demon is back in the mod!

Redid the engine exhausts for all of the ships.
(I got tired of being blinded by all of the white exhausts on our ships.)
I switched over to a translucent red exhaust, like on the Anubis.
Now, you can even see the ships through the red flames.

Reinstalled, and updated the DLL's.

I've gotten repaired icons for the Galaxy and Hellcat from Swiftr.
(Please report any bad Icons that you find.)
