Call me supersticious, but I really don't feel like moving to a forum whose creation coincided with the death of this project once before :\ As for the WCNews one, I see that as more of a public relations thing than a development board ... Besides, doing this helps keeps things visible in the community

EDIT: Sorry if that comes off as a bit irritable, I'm not feeling well this week.

pSYCHO:
Sorry, but that would be Bob McDob, or Tolwyn's department.
As to the skins...
Here's a place to see what I'm after: http://www.wcnews.com/ships/p1kilrathi.shtml

Tolwyn:
I understand what you're saying.
But it's not like I went out of my way to try and start a new forum.
I was asked if it was okay, I thought that it was, so I said yes.

In the 3 weeks since v1.06 was released, this thread has gotten almost 260 posts.
(Didn't you once tell me we needed the publicity? Well, here it is!)
We've added several great new people, and pushed the project forward by months.
Instead of one mod, we're doing four.
In my opinion, it's due to our being accessible to the people who are interested in what we're doing, and to the people who will actually use these mods.
By simply being offered the chance to have our own forum, we've proven that we are a driving force.
That we're not just a bunch of n00b kids goofing off!
We're serious about this.
We're passionate about this.
And we WILL complete an Excellent Ensemble of MODs for the games we love!

Eraser, and others, monitor this thread.
If we decide that we don't want a forum, I'm sure that that can be arranged, too.

Yeah, I agree with warzog on this one, a forum on LancersReactor is an important part of PR, and bringing in fresh blood. Besides, didn't WC Saga go through half a dozen forums before you found one that worked? <G>

pSYCHO: What ships do you need? I only have a few of them ... Tolwyn has most of the rest, although some of them are on the FTP, and I could grab what you needed ...

to tell you truth Bob, WCS forums were screwed during the Sol Sector upgrade and I was not in the mood to restore them. But anyway, you are right, but it would be a good idea to post a link in the WC CIC forum to this development thread.

Notice:
I have had a major disaster!
The palm rest of my notebook got extremely hot, the paint blistered, and then there were 2 loud explosions, followed by the smell of electronics burning, and the demise of my computer.
I've determined that the battery charger in my notebook fried, and it took out the hard drive.
Luckily, I had a spare, but with my internal cd-rom drive damaged, too, I'm having problems.
I've got it up to barely running Win98SE, and it may be a while before I can get back to work onf the mod(s).

Luckily, I backed up everything to cd just a few hours before the computer went tits up.
And due to my medical condition, which doesn't allow me to work, I can't get a new computer for quite some time.
If I disappear for a while, at least you'll know the reason.
I should know by Monday if I can get this POS working.
'Til then...

Warzog!
Just gave up The Reconing. By the time I made level 3 I had the Vindecater and by level 5 I had level 7 Plasma's all around and level 5 shield and thrust and nothing could tuch me. YAWN! In the mission where Trent & co. have to blast their way out of Leeds I had the battle ship all three cruisers and all but one fighter dystroyed by the time Tobias shows. Boring to wait while the movie catches up.
JUST ANOUTHER BIG SHIP MOD SO FAR.

A couple places where game crashed to desk top: Omicron Beta neer coordansnace 5E & 6E. also Sigma 17 in upper left area not sure accactly but was headed for Sigma 13 jump hole.

Good luck on straighting out these problems, the game shows great promise.

P.S. From bases that I visited it looked like the Vindecater was the most able ship. Extreamly over balanced.

Luck.

olddog:
I agree with the yawners.
I've fixed the problem with the Sigma bug.
Version 1.06 was an early attempt, and the ships and weapons weren't quite right.
I think that you'll find v1.07 much better.
And thanx for the feedback!

Note:
Got my computer to about 50% capacity.
Should be back up and running tomorrow.
(I hope.)

Da****, I was worried something might happen :\ Well, for what it's worth, I found an error in Sigma-17 - it's sporadic and probably caused by a ship, but it causes the game to crash to desktop. Did a scanover with that INI scanner dealy (works on my comp), but found nothing, so I'm not totally sure what's wrong.

Post Sun Feb 22, 2004 3:17 am

Bob,
I assume that you're using the v1.07?
If you go into Loadouts.ini, there are a couple of loadouts without an "archtype."
AND a couple with 2 engines.
Fix those, and that should correct it.

Looks like I'm back in business with my POS computer.

ship icons are practically done.
But the voice mod may need some time. Currently i know how to edit the .utf files but there are hundreds of sounds in each file and i don't know how they work with the INIs.

Somebody asked for a cockpit, don't remember who ;-).
i could do that, but was it meant to replace the HUD or the 3D-Cockpit you see when you change to 1st person view ?

pSYCHO:
If, and when, you ever get those ships:
The Stiletto's 2 HpWeapon mounts need to be repositioned, as the guns won't fire.
(The HpTorpedo mounts are okay.)
And the Gothri only has 2 HpWeapon mounts working, and the HpTorpedo mounts are okay.

Swiftr:
As to the voice mod:
Just listen to what's being said in the .utf files, and replace them with similar sounding Privateer sounds.
IE:
If one has a Battle Cry, replace it with a Battle Cry.
If one is retreating, replace it with a retreating.
You may not be able to replace every voice in FL, or even be able to use every voice from Privateer.
The idea is to capture the general tone og the game.
Also, you stated that you want the credits to show you as Swift, and not as Swiftr.
While I can do that, won't that be giving credit to the individual on this site named Swift?

Update:
Replaced the Jumpgates with Jumpholes in both mods.
Made the Docking Rings invisible for both mods.
Waiting on repaired ships for both mods.

"A Privateer's Privateer mod" is on hold until the Stiletto & Gothri's weapons are fixed.
(Their inability to fire is causing several minor bugs.)

"Privateer: The Reckoning v1.07 mod" is undergoing a debugging run-through.
