let me correct some errors

Here's the list of ships I have in the Privateer Only mod:
Broadsword: M.Kruer, Lynx
Centurion: Stannum (model has been redone, could use a crisper skin)
Demon: Origin Systems, Inc.
Dralthi IV: Scheherazade, Lynx
Drone: Bob McDob
Gladius: Eder (model could use a better skin)
Gothri: Eder, Lynx (model needs a skin-it's just Grey & Black shapes)
Paradigm: Bob McDob (model has been redone)
Stiletto: Eder (model has it's #3 exhaust on the left wingtip)
Talon: Eder (model needs to be resized-it's a tad to big)

@Warzog, I rarely saw the Paradigms on patrol in Privateer. And if I did it was mostly near Kilrathi space or in Perry system or in surrounding systems. I occasionally saw them along major routes, but the frequency rate was really small. Don't make their patrol routes everywhere or at least use a very low appearance rate.

Just a word of caution.

Also:

Hornet: Howard Day

Is that a good quality model? For a comparison I found JohnHawke's Hornet in the downloads. Just for a comparison if you want it, I don't know which is better having not seen either myself.

When I play Privateer, it seems like they're everywhere.
But I know what you mean.
Besides...
I've never seen gunboats on patrol in FL, and yet, there's 2 types of random encounters for them.
And if you consider how many times I've run through the Sirius systems while debugging The Equalizer, The Equalizer Mk II, Privateer: The Reckoning v1.0, v1.01, v1.02, v1.03, v1.04, v1.05, v1.06, v1.07, and A Privateer's Privateer mod, you'd think I'd have seen them at least once!
After all, they're running around in 22 of Sirius' 47 systems!
And we're talking Liberty, Bretonnia, Kusari, as well as a few of the less visited systems.
Once I've got the Paradigm in, and I've done a few spins around the sector, I'll know if I need to increase, or decrease their placement.
It may be that I just never noticed the Gunboats on patrol before.
But there's absolutely no way I'll miss the Paradigm!

BTW-The Paradigm is actually a Destroyer, but there aren't any in FL.
And the only way to get the Paradigm to run police patrols as it does in Privateer 1, and not have it show up in pirate or corsair or other attacks, is to have it patrol as a gunboat.
I'm planning on using the Broadsword for the regular Gunboat missions and random encounters.

AND!!!
Right now, it's only in the Privateer only mod, not in v1.07.
It just doesn't feel right with the textures & ships in v1.07.

I may or may not be around for the next couple of days ... viruses and sleep disorders been taking their toll ...

warzog: I played around with the latest mod build, and I have to say I'm very impressed from what I saw ... only gripe is that the isometal upgrade coupled with the amount of repairs bots makes combat too easy (though I still get a sense of danger from playing that I haven't felt in a long time) ... and one time I had a decked-out Arrow at the Colorado jump gate and a convoy of ships was blocking up the queue ... SO I KILLED THEM ALL. Even though I knew that they had no chance of stopping me, I still felt pretty vulnerable. Nice job on that.

Actually, after you talked to me about the Paradigm I've been fiddling around with it and I think I'm gonna redo the textures on it. Which means having to actually learn texturing from scratch (I did it once, but I wasn't terribly pleased with the results). I'm also gonna take a shot at installing that debugger dealie, and if it doesn't kill everything I can probably help you with ferreting out errors and such ...

Have you tried the Ashcroft mission yet?
You Battle Cosmo, then 12 Pirates at the station, 6 at the transports, Ashcroft and 6 escorts, get jumped by 6 more at Ft Bush, it's a rough one!
I originally tried limiting Nanobots & ShieldBatts to just 10.
I could never get through the Ashcroft mission!
I upped it to 15 each, and I've had several times where I've landed on the Missouri with only half a click of armor left!
I've even had my shields blown completely away! (As in: Had to buy a new one.)
And if you do any serious wandering, and get jumped by a dozen or so pirates, good luck!!!
Of course, without the Leech missiles, the pirates can't stop you from escaping!
(But they can sure rip you up at speed!)
And I still haven't made it to any of the big Nomad battles, yet.

I may put the Leech missiles back in later, just not sure right now.

Noticed that the Drayman will only be in the priv only mod but was wondering.
Could the Priv only and WC mods work..together? That way we could go for a pure Priv 1 or a mix.
Also I saw the thing with the Sideways flying Paradigm, only 1 thing to say "LOL".
And the thing with them and me in priv was When I HAD good rep with confed they were few and far between. Once i became a pirate they commonly came with 3 broadswords after my lil ol Galaxy. Only thing i liked about them was at certin angles (about 1 degee so you have to get it just right) they couldn't fire at you... this made killing them too easy hope to see that fixed.
And i must say I'm glad with the armor and stuff being buyable and more often than not in the begining was i taken to near dead and had to afterburner back to a base.
Hope to see the final one at its 100%
And I think Origin sould hire ALL of you to help make a Priv 3
Then you could basically take these mods and put them into a Great title.
I for one would buy it.

i have been watching this thread since page 15 or something like that and just wanted to say hello and that you do a great job. Keep it up, i'm really looking forward to this mod :-)

do you need any help ? if yes, what kind of ?
i have some time and would like to help you. Think i know a bit of everything what has to be done in a mod, if not, i'll learn it ;-)

one note, why would the drayman only be available in the privateer-only mod?
i can remember quite some missions in wing commander 1 (and 2 also?) where you had to protect those neat freighters


and another hint (though you might know of it anyway, like always did up to now ) *if* you decide to get into some random mission creating, you maybe want to take a look on the first post here

We do need a couple of things:
1) Someone to do a voice mod. We don't have anyone who can edit the *.thn files to do them.
2) We could also use someone to do thumbnails in *.3db format, of the ships.
Whether you can help, or not, thanx for the offer!

The Drayman was a mainstay in Privateer 1, so it HAS to be in that mod. It may make it into the other, but that depends on it's size, and whether it can go through the tradelanes, or I can get rid of the tradelanes.

Shotglass_Da_Barkeepa:
The goal in both mods is to bring the world of Privateer, and Wing Commander, back to life.
The Privateer ONLY mod is for purists, like me, who don't like the Wing Commander ships as much as the Privateer ones.
The Reckoning will have both Privateer, and Wing Commander Ships, so you'll have the mix with that mod.
As to flying the Drayman...
I've flown the Paradigm, and the Drayman was about the same size, and it's a real pain to fly!
It turns about as fast as your house does, and its as easy to shoot as hitting a car in front of your house, from your back yard!
And going anywhere is like trying to drive a truck through a knot-hole!

Ya but all Draymen were to fly like a dead pig in midsummer...
but oh well so long as I can fly my ole Galaxiy i'll be very happy.

Just the right thing to start FL modding.

I just did the Ferret icon as a try, and i think it works.

Just put the ferret.3db into the Equipment\models\commodities\nn_icons\ directory and edit the Goods.ini like this :

if this works, it's no big deal to make them. Needs 5-10 mins.

well, i took a look into the thn files, seems to me that there are only animation scripts, but nothing what has to do with voices.
What exactly do you want to change in this voice-mod ? Maybe i don't need to change the thn-scripts
