Hi there. I've been told to expect the DSO Release in the US in August... Here it is halfway gone, and I haven't heard anything. If you're still working on it, don't rush by any means. Make sure it gets done before shipping (unlike FL...). I'll be buying a new computer in the next few months and DSO will be on the top of my software list!
Hello there,
DSO has been released in both the US and the UK several days ago so you should be able to buy it.
As no anouncement has been made on Lancersreactor, I no longer actually work for Ascaron, I thought I would also point out a few updates:
Patch 1.2 has been released with enabled moddability
MOD tools have been released including mission examples and plenty of explanation on how to mod stuff.
The official DSO forum has all the details, I am sure TLR will update at some point

Aye. You can also install the old control panel from a previous driver version, but some features have to be enabled in the registry before they can be accessed through the CP GUI. I'm not prepared to spend time doing that, so I use ATITT instead. I used the "Omega" drivers for a while and I like them, but I had problems with some games. NWN for example (I think that NWN was one of them), wouldn't start up due to the Omega drivers, so I reverted to the Catalysts.
I am sorry to say that I have received my DSO from Game stop, and I have returned it for a refund as I do not believe this will be the next Freelancer.
I had a friend who got his a few days ago and I went over to play the game and it is not much different then the Demo sad to say, it lacks in every aspect of being a new Freelancer, So a word to those who are expecting a Freelancer done right, you will be very disappointed. I still can't believe no one can make a better game then Freelancer and its been 4 yrs. We must face some simple facts Freelancer rules, and is still advanced for it’s time.

I'll probably keep my copy in the hope that the game will be patched and that good mods will be released, but the copy protection for DS1 is one of the things that annoys me. Alright, the CD is checked at the start of the game fair enough, but why does it need to be checked during the game? I hate TAGES, but at least it is better than StarForce, but not by that much, as TAGES installs its own drivers too. Bleh.
