I found some old PC components knocking around so I decided to build a system from them. All seems to be going reasonably well (once I'd blown most of the dust off) but now I can't for the life of me get the damn thing to run.

I can't figure out what's wrong. It seems, as far as I can tell, to run fine - the motherboard isn't making any strange beeps - but the graphics card isn't giving out any signal to the monitor. Does this mean the graphics card is knackered or is there another explanation? (Bear in mind, the thing was clogged so full of dust and dirt I had to take the fan and heatsink off to airdust them, that might have damaged the chip).

Does anyone have any ideas?

EDIT: I forgot to mention I replaced the thermal grease. Could cleaning off the last lot damage the GPU chips?

EDIT: Ok, I fixed that problem. For some reason, the wires that connect the PSU to the CPU fan had snapped...

Now I can get as far as boot up, but then the system packs in. I had a look at the System Health in the BIOS, and the idle temperature (if it is indeed that) is about 70C. That seems to be a little high, or is that normal for Artic Silver before it sets properly?
