Can I own multiple ships?

Hi guys,

I'm new to Freelancer (just got it the other day) and was wondering can I own multiple ships and if so, how does it all work? Do I store them somewhere? Can I own bases? I was just wondering about all this stuff, cause itd be cool to be able to have more than one ship with different stuff (like a freighter and a fighter!) thanks for the help!

Short answer - no.

Edit: More helpful answer - No. You can't own multiple anything. In "vanilla" (unmodded) FL you can own either one freighter or one fighter of one class (Light, Heavy, Very Heavy). You also can't own stations.

There are some mods which allow you to own battleships and a few RPG-based servers have some sort of workaround which will allow clans to "own" stations.
