New to the game - help!

I've yet to start playing but was wondering what Mods and patches I ought to install to get the most out of the game?

I have heard of a Mod called massive but I am really very new and dont have a clue what to install first.

Can anyone help me out here?

Look through the download list. There are many mods, from ships only, up to total converstions. No patches are needed. The Offical on is for sever side, no player side.

But there are _alot_ of mods and its all meaningless to me atm.

If you had the chance to start from scratch what mod would you have installed before you started to play?

I have downloaded 1.4 patch but what mods should I add?

Hostile universe, is a favorite of mine, as is Tie Universe, a Star wars conversion. I usually play open SP as well, so I don't have to deal with the story line. Download FLMM and the SDK. Install FLMM first, then the SDK and then what ever mod you want to use.

I reccomend u only install mods once you have done evrything possible in SP, and even then make bacup files and transfer copies of your saves in case you download a mod with fatal bugs.

if i were you, i'd download the unofficial patch 1.4, it fixes some of the bugs
