What is the difference between starlancer and freelancer?

Hi guys. I wanna buy one of the games, but im not sure which one is better.
Is freelancer the sequel to starlancer?

Your advice would be cool,

Yo. I think, from reading the boards, that Freelancer is sort of an unofficial sequel. it has it's own universe and storyline, so it is a completely independant game. i recommend freelancer.

Freelancer is the better, as once you finish it, you can do some of the mods and make it different.

yeah, thanks. Ive also downloaded the demo of freelancer as well as the on of starlancer.

Starlancer appears to me as somewhat obsolete compared to freelancer, which has much better graphics and better sound, nicer huds etc.

In Freelancer, u got much more freedom to do what u want, dont you. Well, whatever, the decision is clear for me, thanks
