If you notice the ships in the intro, the Nomads did it.

Trent...
We were having a disagreement over a certain female and I told him "Do the right thing. It will gratify some people and astonish the rest".
He said it was an accident...

ah. so it is. i can see that now.

but y did the nomads destroy it?

Post Wed Jan 26, 2005 4:17 pm

Because Syd (The guy with the tattoo on his eye and the cig) had that Dom K'vash artifact, the purple one which lead to Trent finding and destroying the Nomad City. They planned to destroy FP7 so that Syd and the Aritifact would be destroyed, rendering humanity powerless against the nomads.

Isnt it a bit ironic the grand thief to get the artifact from Pyrar ( fighting against security and sandstorms) or from a high security place just to get killed by a street cop ?

During the story you have to kill entire nation's fleets and exterminate highly advance spieces just to end up looking for a job in the bar isnt life unfair?

Also, isn't it ironic that Trent says in his log "After two weeks of travel, I've made it to the Sigma system cluster", when I can make the journey there from Leeds in ten minutes or so.

Post Sat Jan 29, 2005 6:15 am

Ah, but that's 10 minutes game time, not "real" time.

Remember when the transport leave Freeport 7, they say "See you in 2 weeks".
I'm assuming there's some sort of time lapse during the jump hole sequences - maybe a "suspended animation" module as part of the cockpit.

Either that, or it's just a game!

Well, right off, we can tell the jump gates/holes are near-instantaneous travel, because during storyline missions, we gate to other systems on "time critical" missions. If there was a two-week delay, the Nomads would be having picnics on Leeds by the time we made it into Kusari space.

But let's consider this: they escaped Freeport 7 aboard a lifeboat, right? Well, who's to say they didn't float around for awhile in that lifeboat before being picked up by a ship that can fly under its own power through Trade Lanes and Gates?

My money says they were adrift in a lifeboat for a week or more before being picked up and rushed to Manhattan.
