I downloaded the DS2 demo a while ago, and it is the biggest "Diablo 2" rip-off that I have seen in a long time. Skill trees, portals (ie. "waypoints" by any other name), set items, the carbon-copy death system, respawning monsters, and what's more you can't even save in the wilderness anymore! Like Diablo 2 it just transports you back to the closest town when you save! I hope that the saving thing is just an element of the demo. In any case, I am not very impressed, and will most likely wait until the game becomes 50% cheaper *if* I choose to purchase it at all. Quite disappointing. Still, it doesn't come out for a month here anyway, so I have time to wait for patches, etc.
