Okay, uploaded Talons.zip to the FTP. It includes the ms3ds and textures, as well as the usual cmp and mat.

warzog: Although I haven't got a chance to test out the new "suicidal and bloodthirsty" mod version yet, after playing the first campaign mission I think I see the problem with dying: the shields give out too quickly, even the higher level ones, which leads you to rely on armor rather more than you should have too After thinking it over, though, I think you should concentrate more on creating Gemini sector for the time being. After all, playbalancing is just a tweaking deal that can be better fleshed out later, where as systems aren't something just anyone can do

P.S. Swiftr: I don't know if you're still planning on doing the HUD, but here's a shot of the aforementioned Quine 4000, which has elements I think would make a good replacement for the "bluer than blue" paradigm of Freelancer

Thanks Bob, but currently the HUD has no priority.
First I have to finish the Icons ( I hope the last version I sent to warzog works ) and the Voice-Mod.

@Bob, when at WCNews.com I saw your pictures you sent them of the Talon, Arrow & Demon, I noticed that the enemy in the shots were "Cats." Why not have "Kilrathi?" Cats is a slang term in the games, not something official, obviously.

Also, on that same news update on WCNews.com there was some a really cool Kilrathi super carrier screenshot from a Secret Ops mod called Wing Commander Standoff. While that may or not fit in this game for style, I went to their website and saw some excellent screen shots of other craft they have made. They have dozens of Kilrathi and Confed forces, including some really Privateer looking ones. I'll post 4 here, click the link if you want to see more.

They all look WC2, Privateerish in style. Older, more beat-up looking. If there are any ship slots you need filling, see if you can convert one of theirs if they let you use it.

Also, it'd be neat if there were one or two hidden Kilrathi bases where we could buy some of their fighters. Just a thought, not necessary.

hm, let me think, was there a "real" kilrathi cruiser in wing commander/privateer?
cant remember one...

would love to see that one in FL


and this is no way the concordia.
lol, just noticed, if you would have placed your mouse a bit longer over the thumbnail, you would have seen that it is a ship called TCS Reims

this seems to be another view of the same ship (though the alt-text says "Waterloo". dont like it thaaat much... looks more like somthing romulan.

Ok, warzog, if you haven't made the torpedo/missile/disruptor thing right like you want it yet, I have an idea. I've been able to call the missile hp_type in weapon_equip.ini hp_torpedo, rather than hp_torpedo_special_1/2, and the same for hardpoints on the ship. It allows for three types of missiles (torpedo, torpedo_special_1, and torpedo_special_2) on a non-gun hardpoint. I've been able to place the launcher, and fire missiles. I hope that this helps.

Also, about the NPC's not firing missiles: The Order ships in mission 01a wouldn't fire during the cinematic sequence when I'd accidentally changed the HP_type of the MUNITION in the weapon_equip file to something other than hp_gun or hp_gun_xx. I have the missile01_mark01_rtc launcher listed as a torpedo, but the munition seems to need to be a gun. Hope this solves any problems you may have with missiles.

ALL of the Icons I've seen so far are PERFECT!!!!
There are a few I may not have seen, yet, but they all look great!
Ships, Weapons, Commodities, all PERFECT!

The problem with the missiles is Definately in the Script.XML file!!!
And since the problem was also in v1.06, it HAS to be something that was in that mod, too!
I spent the day rewriting the Weapon_Equip.ini, Weapon_Good.ini, ST_Equip.ini, ST_Good.ini, Loadouts_Special.ini, and the Loadouts_Utility.ini files to remove data in the Script.XML file.
When I run the mod, nobody can fire missiles!
If I remove the Script.XML file, and run the mod, EVERYBODY fires missiles!
Besides the names, and the data cards, about the only things left in the Script.XML file from v1.06, are the changes to the pay at the end of each mission.
I'm going to slowly delete sections of the Script.XML file, until I find the culprit.

I understand what you're saying. The pirates AND the Order both launch missiles in 1.06 for me. So, if you are experiencing difficulties, try what I tried to get the 1.06 mod to install in the first place: restore the .ini's from the 'FLSDK' provided by the =eoa= Players' Consortium found here http://eoa.seriouszone.com/

Man those screen shots r way cool would love 2 fly them or run missions against them
Got a Idea make a station with lots od docking ports like in bobways a1mod
and put all these cool ships in them call it zogbob ship yards

I know u guys r workin your azzzz off on this mod and I am truly lookin foward 2 playing it
I hope that u change the payouts 4 the missions I dont really like the fact that in 3or4 hrs of play u canmax out in money by trading I think that all freighters should b costly I wouls mutch rather fight & trade what my fighter can carry than run and dodge with a freighter 2 lv up

ps please make a mp verson of your mods online play is so much more fun than sp with 4 servers up & running would love 2 change 1 , 2 your mod

I downloaded the Talons, and I've got some good news, and some bad news:
The bad news: They're white as new-fallen snow. Can't tell one from another.
Edit: Just noticed this: They don't have a Shield or Thruster Hardpoint!
And they still need to be smaller.
The Good news: The missiles fire with the new Talons, but not with the old ones!
(Wierd)
I need to check the other ships to see which ones need to be reworked.
I've just uploaded "A Privateer's Privateer mod v1.02" to the FTP site.
Edit: She's NOT ready for beta testing, due to the lack of shields on the Talon's.
I need to redo v1.07, which henceforth will be v1.08.

See the note to Bob about the missiles.

hi, was just reading the threrad.. gee tht was long, i noticed, well more 2 the point JohnHawke told me about this, sorry but ive been away for ages, college work just got on top of me, so my poor modding had 2 stop. i know im sorry, you all loved me haha, nah. Just putting a reply in about the mod, if you need any help with modeling ether me or JohnHawke will b willing to help, i know hes already spoken 2 u. As for me, like 2 think tht we had a hand in starting the ball rolling on wc ships, but u can arguee the toss on tht, ne who, im currently building the tigers claw from WC1, dunno how long it will take but mail me if ur interested.([email protected])
