Mod update:
We can now announce that given the balance goes well, that we will include the following:
A new player ship weapon:
The chaingun: - a brand new model is now undergoing testing - complete with sounds etc., ...it will be available for purchase - provided you are on good terms with the supplier......
New player ships: (in addition to those on the website)
Ceres: A fast 'blockade runner' type transport - good armour and speed in a straight line - equipped with two main guns, 4 turrets and the deadliest of mines - not cheap - but with 600 cargo you should be able to recoup your investment with a couple of good cargo runs........
Hermes: A heavily armoured transport with a couple of tricks up its sleeve.... if you are not on the right side of this baby ...... approach with caution! Hermes carries a message...
Nemesis: Destroyer of the unwary.....a capship - Armour, guns, mines, high refire turrets, missiles..... but still in the final development stages. We will try to get it ready for the release date.

if you want to be a tester you can email either me or dave (harrier) most if not all requests to be a tester will be honored and you will receive a thanks in our mod. i think the ceres is near completion, i hope you guys like it, dave and i sure do. post feedback on the ships please, we'd like to know what you guys are thinking

is anyone looking in this topic anymore? if you are looking please post, we are looking for a direction to take this mod, so we arent just going forward at 60 mph with our eyes closed, if you know what i mean...
if you have any ideas or recommendations please post them...we are eager to here them, and we are on our tippytoes hoping this mod hasnt died before release...we do have alot of stuff in progress for this mod and we are hoping it serves a purpose, anyway, here is the link again to our website incase you dont know it

Update:
The chaingun works just fine, it even has a name: Steel Rain
available as a turret, or playership model, It has been tested on a Kusari Drake against Nomads and Titans
Specs: level 6, damage: shield 180, hull 180, refire rate 100.00
Man the thing hits like a train but sucks energy like there is no tomorrow, (probably really level 12).
We calculated that if you could keep the energy up to it, if someone somehow fired 6000 shots in that minute then - it would deliver
Damage x rfr = 1,080,000 damage if they hit with all! That is enough to take out a cruiser..........
I cant claim all the credit, I only made the model in Ms based on a design by parabolix, I had help from wanderer and parabolix ..... but for some reason no-one seems interested......
Two other models are in millkshape: a twin gun dome type dedicated turret called Golden Lance for gunboats, transports, freighters, and a larger long range big gun turret called Black Harpoon for gunboats, the armoured transport, and capital ships like Nemesis.
Though I sometimes wonder why we bother......... not many responses to any of our posts - excepting those who have of course.... thanks to the people who have posted....Vorthas in particular, your idea's are noted and some of them at least have been acted on.

Edit: to answer kendo, yes we are using open sp and pathfinding mod and are trying to recapture the feel of the original Freelancer. btw Kendo interested in helping us set up the factions....? We are fairly sure we have it pretty right but some factors that are causing us some concern could use your expertise....

Your positive feedback is appreciated, the Rapier is my first ship and has a special place - the texturing was an experiment in custom paintjobs trying to recreate that "boy racer" 70's look, I have always felt there was not enough colour in thr freelancer world, so I tried my hand at airbrushing, and found that with the power of ps7 that it was easy enough. The website gets plenty of hits, but yours is the first comment in the forum and has made me feel that it was all not a complete waste of time - thank you.
Pity there aren't more like you in the freelancer community.... so come on folk... here's the challenge - take a look - post a comment, good or bad, we do take note, and some suggestions have already been acted on.... or is the small ships mod idea dead............... I'm starting to think so

Well here is something, pictures of the chaingun, in omicron alpha after a 'muck about" with 20 Nomads, and a couple of Corsair titans - the model has to be rescaled slightly, oh and did I mention - it will be available as 1:- a gunship turret - 2:- a small ship turret, and 3:- as a ship main weapon.

the all blue one, I presume you mean the one with the ripple tex, was an experiment in alien tex's, I'll remove it soon, the one with flames, is one of my sentimental favourites, and was an exersize in custom paint jobs - air brushing -I duuno if I will keep it for myself, or release it with the mod, I'll decide later.
I have almost completed what I call a 'Q-ship' and is based on a Transport with some kick, similar to those raiders used during WW2 in the Atlantic that were equipped with 12" guns and disguised to look like a freighter. The transport is a very heavily armed and armoured ship equipped with two Chaingun turrets, 2 deck mounted capship type turrets, and a twin belly turret. hope to post some pics soon.
