Sound problems with the demo

I'm having some serious sound problems with the demo.
Sometimes when I talk to people in the bar I don't have any sound, and when ships are talking its the same sometimes. Sometimes the voice stops in mid-sentence. I also miss the background music sometimes.

Is this normal? (maybe sounds cut due to file size or sth.)

If not, what do you think might cause this problem?

I'm using my simple but normally working onboard sound card (EPOX 8KTA3+)

Maybe driver update will work (current drivers are pretty new actually). Gonna try tomorrow, 2:30am is just too late for sth like that...
Freelancer is just too addicting; even with bugged sound
