problem with game text

I tried installing freelancer on my sister's new PC and it didn't work right forI couldn't read any of the text properly it kept changing size and appearing in different spots on the screen (not where it should be)
if anyone has any ideas to fix this problem I'd sure appreciate it

btw, it is running Vista but, I've heard of people getting it to work fine as far as the graphics are concerned
I highly doubt that anyone ccame up with a fix for the problem with logging into servers yet but, one player would be fine for now

Two friends I know that had that problem fixed it by changing the video drivers (both back down to the latest stable drivers, not the newest beta drivers). Remember, this is an old game, heh.

hadn't thught of that
sounds like it might take some searching on the computer to find the cards maker and some time to searcj the internet for the drivers
guess I'll have to stop by and help set it up when I have lots of time to spare

I'm having the same problem on an 01 xp. After I reformatted it has been doing that thing with the text and the screen will flash. I'm not driver savvy and have no clue of what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
