Preparing your PC for Freelancer XP OS
Step by Step
1. Accessories/System Tools/Disk Cleanup and click, then check everything on the menu. And hit ok
2. Accessories/System Tools/Disk Defragmenter and click, then click Defragment
3. My Computer/Local Disk and right click, then click on Properties, then click on tools tab then click on check now, and check both boxes click start then you will have a pop up that ask you if you want to perform disk check on next restart click yes, and restart your puter.
4. After step 3 is complete and your back to windows click Start tab/Run and type in msconfig and hit ok. Then
Under General Tab click on Selective Startup then uncheck Process SYSTEM.INI File, Process WIN.INI File, and Load Startup Items. Then click Services tab, and check the Hide all Microsoft Services box at the bottom of window. You now will see several service items and Manufacturer. Uncheck all click apply then close and you well be prompted to restart do so. Now many have Virus protection on at startup so if you are connected to the net at all times make sure to leave these services alone do not uncheck them. For those who know how to turn off, and or are able to disconnect then do so before you start this step. And proceed as stated above, as you can start and stop the Virus protection at will.
