Upgrading hardware and Freelancer
I see quite a few posts in this forum regarding problems after upgrading video cards. It has been my experience that when you upgrade something as important as a graphics card, you should do a fresh install of your operating system as well. I know this sounds rather extreme, but in the 10 years that I have been building and upgrading custom PC's, I have found that in most cases it is only fix for hardware related issues. For example, even though the Graphic Card's chipset manufacturer may say they use a unified driver, the driver acts in different ways depending upon the card in use. By reinstalling a fresh copy of the operating system you are eliminating any registry values that may conflict with your new hardware. These values may remain even if you uninstall the driver from your system. Because Windows can be a bit touchy at times about hardware changes, improper registry values will cause your programs to fail.
