FLShell Player Templates

Hey

I just got FLShell installed, and am looking into player templates (messing around with it really) and I am confused about something.

I have been looking into editing them by using flcodec to decode them, combined with using ioncross character editor to edit them with a gui instead of manually, but I am getting problems adding cargo and such, I get an error, subscript out of range or something.

But, what I would like to know is if I start a character on multiplayer, and edit it accordingly with ioncross server operator, will I be able to decode the file and just copy and paste everything in that file into a template and drop it in the FLShell folder? I'm thinking thats the way to do it, I'm just asking so I can basically find an easier way.

Thanks

My problem with this is after I compared the files and tried to load them in ioncross is that they have actual player names, but in MP when I use the /restart template command, it keeps my name and gives me the loadout.

I'm just a little confused on how to best create my own custom ones. I am trying to set my server up as a PVP server, so I would like to create varying loadouts for different ships.

Thanks

How many templates are you talking about. I'm pretty new to flshell and have just started learning through its features. Is it the ship loadout that is causing the problems? I have made up the hashcodes for ioncross and open up the datafiles.
It really does depend on how many of these things your planning to make. I would just copy the entries for the repgroup from initial_world to a tempory txt file and use replace-all to rename them to the usable entries. Then just paste it into the template using the saved game editor.

We are useing FLShell 4 a while on WTS World - to bad, the website seems to be gone.

I made some templates creating a char, setting it partly up and partly editing it with IONCROSS.
When finished, just copying and renaming the player file from multiplayer account to "/dots".

And sure - "/restart" will restart your char with new stuff + rep - the name keeps the same.

We use FLShell and the startup template on Freelancer Universe.

Here's how I set them up.

I started a player ship and made sure it was old enough to pass IFSO's cleanup requirements. (1/2 hour in our case)

Then I edited the ship to the base that sold the ship I wanted it to be and outfitted it with an appropriate loadout. Using IFSO I also edited the money, rep, and anything else needed. Then I logged in and launched the ship and redocked. This way any edits were saved to the file.

Now, using IFSO track down that character file and copy it to your desktop. Change the name of the file to the template name you wish to use (rogues.fl, bounty.fl, navy.fl, etc.)

Then copy the renamed file into your FLShell\DOT folder.

Repeat as necessary.

If you wish to create hidden templates visible only to FLShell admins you can do so by adding an underscore to the beginning of name of the template. For example, if you want to create an admin or server police ship for easy startup for new server officials, create your template and then name it _adminship.fl or something like that. Don't name it something easy to figure out or you may see more of those ships than you would like.

If you wish to sell a template using the /restart command you need to add a _$#### in front of the template name where #### is the amount of thousands of credits needed to buy the ship. If you wish to create a template where a player can buy the Anubis for 1 million credits you would create your template and then name it _$1000Anubis.fl. The template would be hidden so you would have to advertise it either on your forums or in a banner/console message. Note also that there are rank limits for using the /restart command. You may need to go into the FLShell.ini file and adjust the rank level in order to either allow or prevent its use.
