some stores had it in stock as of last sunday (5/3/07) thats when I picked up my copy there were only five left behind the counter so maybe some places got a few for early release.

well i played the demo - was very disappointed and would not consider buying the game. this game is like freelancer in its appearance, except that it couldn't hold a torch to freelancer's actual gameplay.3/5 demo rating for being a competent indie attempt at a spacesim but unfortunately theres just nothing special about it (and the FMVs in the demo have horrible acting and ugly models - blech)

Maybe turn up your graphics?

Post Wed Jun 06, 2007 2:00 pm

this was on an athlon 64 x2 3800+ 2 gigs DDR and ATI Radeon x800XL at 720p res - i turned all the graphics settings on, but the card doesn't support HDR - even so, freelancer's feeling of speed/movement and a living universe with attention to important details is not present here and i felt disappointed with the 800mb download.

I will agree other than new places and new scenery to look at It doesn't come close to Freelancer, I was expecting it to be better than it turned out to be

Just in case anyone missed it, there is also a review available at Gamespot for your reading pleasure.

isn't this game by the same company (dreamcatcher)? it certainly looks like something the CYOF community would like - this game however i do not think anyone will like much - just too generic feeling (although i loved some of the ship models). ho-hum, ii'll continue watching the field..its far from unpromising with new titles like Infinity and Sector 13 and Mass Effect in the wings.

Why would ANYONE buy this? It's really nothing special - besides, what is with developers thinking that ANY game without MP will be anything but an impulse buy that stands a better chance of being returned? Darkstar one found this out the hard way, now, i guess this game will too. I just refuse to play anything without MP support anymore - and i KNOW tons of people were begging for MP to be put into this game, and were ignored. Time to ignore the game companies that don't want to listen to the people who BUY the games. Dumb.

Not everyone enjoys MP. Some people hark back to the good old days of SP gaming, in which the individual alone was catered for, and vastly prefer it to spending time with the online riff-raff with their "LOLs" and "ROFLcopters". Indeed, it could be argued that the lucrative nature of online gaming has had a deleterious impact upon the development of games (especially SP games), but that's a topic for another forum...

i played the demo a little more on an HDR / pixel shader 3 capable card and it looked *better* - can't really add any more to what i already said. i might rate the full game at 4/5 if it was 20 bucks or less, and if it gets to the action faster (whats up with the travel times? no hyper engines etc? blah!)

I shall take a look at the demo and see what I think...ummm I was looking forward for this to be a good game, but I could be wrong.

"comes back after playing the demo"
<--- Picture on the face.
That's on full with a Geforce7600 GT. The fact that they didn't have the right screen res. for me might be making it worst.
I didn't like it, after months of waiting and hoping that this might be a great game just got my excitment popped. What happen to the good graphics? It looked great months ago and it looks like they switched the engine out for a pile of crap. The icons when people talked from what it looked like don't even move, their just static pictures? meh. 4.5/10 for it. Sorry but it was just a huge excitment popper for me.
Almost as bad of a disapointment as DSO.
Good bye to the era of good space games. "goes off to play EVE online"

Erm the Pilot icons have always been Static...

Also are the graphics like little bricks on the stations and all that? If so its because you have turned on a box (the ticky ones) that lower the settings to make the game run better if so press Default and just play with those settings.
