Mod Issues...

Okay, I recently made my own ship on a 3D editor... Yay me. I went through and made sure everything was correct. I was following a Tutorial... Okay, the problem is when I start the game or server, it crashes! Now, I've gone through and replaced ini files and narrowed it down to the misc_equip.ini When I put mine there, which adds an engine for my ship, it crashes. When I replace the ini with the original it's fine. I would love to have some help ASAP. Thanks in advance to anyone that cares to try to help.

Modelling, Texturing, and Programing Files... All in a hard days work.

I have two problems...

1. The ship model just doesn't show up. The guns don't even show.

2. The ship has no equipment... I can't give it weapons, thrusters, anything...

Both of these problems are in game... I don't know what is wrong with the ini files, I'm continuing the process of trying to find out.

make sure your INI has LODranges = 0, 10000 - multiple LODranges do not work for custom ships unless you create more LODs(levels of detail)

if thats not it, are you using the latest CMP exporter (v0.3)?

Post Fri Sep 29, 2006 8:45 pm

Yes, I have the latest CMP Exporter.

No, I haven't used the HardCMP thing. Let me download that and see if it works.

Can you use multiple triangles when placing hard points or can you only use one triangle?

Post Fri Sep 29, 2006 8:49 pm

Okay I got the HardCMP thing and tried loading my ship, but the ship doesn't even show up.

well, keep trying - it might be the size of the ship - too small and you gotta zoom in, too big and you need to zoom out. hardpoints are just 1 triangle apiece

Post Sun Oct 01, 2006 5:45 pm

Okay, I'll try making sure all hard points are just one Triangle, I'll also try increasing the size... then decreasing. Thanks for the help.

np - fyi the scale setting on the export doesn't seem to do much, which is why i use manual scaling before exporting

Post Sun Oct 01, 2006 10:01 pm

manual scaling being the select everything and then scale it before I export it correct?

Post Sun Oct 01, 2006 11:04 pm

'exactly - if you zoom out as far as possible in milkshape's 2-d view mode, a normal sized fighter will fill about half of the window.

Post Sun Oct 01, 2006 11:23 pm

Ohhhhh, that really helps for scaling.... I think mine is entirely too small.

Post Mon Oct 02, 2006 12:50 am

Okay, I did what you said... I made it so all the hard points were 1 triangle. I made sure they were all spelled correctly. Just in case. I also increased the size. To about half the size of the 2d editing window. Still not working...

The ship isn't showing up on HardCMP.

The ship isn't showing up in game. Though it doesn't crash when I buy it or switch to launch pad.

In-Game... It shows it as having no weapon slots, thruster/shield slots. Though the amount of Nano Bots and Shield Batterys works.

I made sure that the textures are working.

Oh, when I go to groups... on Milk Shape 3d... It has a bunch of groups... Though if I remove them it starts removing the model... I used Rhino to make the ship, so I don't know if that changes anything. But, ya it has like 92 groups for the skin of the ship.

So, I'm like really lost, because in the tutorial, the person goes to groups and there is absolutily no groups there.
