Hi whenever i start freelancer it freezes and ges back to normal exept for one exeption: 3d objects have got squares missing, it also happens with other games like age of empires 3 and the sims 2. Im gonna get some pictures up shortly.
you might also want to make sure you're running DirectX9.0c. Quite often when game installers run, it's rather easy to install on older version of DirectX that's packaged on the install disc over your current installation. My son used to have a nasty habit of doing this until a spell in a Tawaklnistan labour camp taught him otherwise. You can d/l DirectX from M$ Update either as a web install or you can download the full Redist instead (I always do the latter)
if you update your display drivers and DX9.0c is ok, then perhaps your card is running hot. Check you have proper cooling both on your card and in your case.

that sort of pixellation is usually do to faulty video memory on the card, I've seen similar before. The vram itself *may* be fine but your card might need additional cooling, if it's just got a passive heatsink or a stock cooler on but personally I'd replace the card. It's also characteristic of a card that's been previously overclocked and damaged as a result of overclocking. What's the make and model and where did you get it from?
sorry about the bad news. try a new cooler but I'm not holding out much hope.

My graphics card is Nvidia Geforce 5600, as someone else built this computer for me i'm not sure where the card came from but I think it came from ebuyer.com.

not might, but does. liek I said, try a new cooler, an Arctic V I think will do the job (check on which ones right for the card) but if you ask me the damage has already been done. The overheating has frazzed the memory and its prob been overclcoked too.
FD - once it gets to that stage its a bit too late, even cooling a card in freon or glycol (like I do sometimes) makes no odds once the wafer thin vram chips or the GPU have been toasted. I'll never trust a passive heatsink for gaming, and if necessary I'll stick on old Socket 7 fan on and wire it up to a molex - any active cooling is better than none. Mind you, you can rarely put any faith in stock coolers, i usually chuck those away too, they're about as much use as a chocolate fireguard.
