New here, please help with mods.

Hi all.
I'm new to the forum so please forgive me if I doing something wrong. Also please excuse me my English it’s my second language.

I was playing a demo version of Freelancer this weekend. I don’t know how I missed this game, I like it a lot. So i went and bought it today.
My question is what is a must have mods for a single player game? Also how do I make mods work?

Howdy, welcome to TLR

Glad you've bought the game, it is truly great!

First up - play the storyline - you don't need any mods - indeed, should you try any mods before you've played the storyline, I'll somehow come round and force you to play it through without mods whilst singing "Chips is the daddy mac, oh Chips is the daddy"... okay, perhaps not that part - but certainly the first bit!

Don't try and mods until you've played the single game right through - because they will forever ruin this game.

Once you've played the whole of the storyline (helps/hints in spoiler forum), then try the multiplayer! There are some truly fantastic "vanilla" (means no mods) servers out there, with great communities. Play on the server, make some mates, join a clan perhaps - enjoy it

AFTER all that, then start on the mods. Not only will this ensure you get months of great gameplay from the game - you'll also really appreciate the game "as is", and then the amount of effort that is put in by server admins and modders alike to keep this game alive.

Then you can start cursing MS for not making a sequal.
