If you want help with your question you're going to have to give us more information about what you are trying to do...
You downloaded what zip file???
Most if not all of the files are mods that end in .zip.flmod which tells the Freelancer Mod Manager to handle the zip file and extract the mod into the Freelancer Mod Manager - mods folder so you can activate the mod using the mod manager...
You say you put whatever file you downloaded into your saved games folder?
The only thing I can think of would be a saved game file...

So what did you download?

I downloaded into my documents/my game/freelancer the federationshippack.zip file from "mods downloads" on this site to the file order mentioned above. I extracted the files into the same folder. In other words there is a federationshippack.zip Zip folder and then the extracted folder of the same name right beside it. I don't know what to do with it. Where should I put the zip file?? Microsoft games,my documents, or freelancer mod manager folder?

Most of the mods come with a "flmod" ext. that all you need to do is double click on the file and it automatically installs itself in mod managers "mod folder". If it's only got a "zip" ext. then extract it into mod managers "mod folder".

If you downloaded the Federation Ship Pack MOD by Archedyne then the file name should be federationshippack.zip.flmod

If it is federationshippack.zip.zip change the file name to federationshippack.zip.flmod

I don't know why but for some people when they download a mod something changes the file name to .zip.zip from its original name of .zip.flmod

After you rename the mod back to federationshippack.zip.flmod then just double left click on the file name and the Freelancer Mod Manager will take over and unzip the mod and then the mod manager screen will pop up automatically...
Then you can click on the mod and then click on activate...

You did already download and install the Freelancer Mod Manager....didn't you?

Yes I did install the mod manager and the file is federationshippack.zip and that's all...no zip.zip or zip.flmod! So I don't know about that one. How I finally got it to work was extrcting into the mod manager folder under the above mod name and then I double clicked the flmm.install file for mod manager and replaced and installed it...then the federation mod finally worked...hmmmm?? I don't know either but everytime I extracted and then brought up the mod manager I was getting an "unable to read the file" failure and then "please activate the mod through mod-manager" all in the same alert window.
Don't know guy's but it work's now so I got it at any rate even if it was (is)
confusing in the way it was accomplished. TY for all the help,
Mikepin
