Artemis Wolves - Join in the Hunt
History
The Artemis Wolves were formed when a group of freelancers, army and police pilots who had left and some more noble bounty hunters, decided that the border and edge systems had been lawless for much too long. They formed the Edge Hunters, which operated just like a police force, except they operated in all the border and edge worlds.
The Edge Hunters had little success however, as many members that were former freelancers or bounty hunters were upset with the strict rule and left the faction. With many precious members lost, the remaining hunters began to lose more and more to the pirates in the border systems they were supposed to be protecting.
The remaining members soon realized that in order to make the faction whole again, they would need to cater to the tastes of different people. So the remaining members reset the whole structure of the faction, making them more like a hunter pack. The members were often left to their own devices, and they could team up with fellow members and hunt down criminals. There were to be few orders, but if needed orders could be issued in times of crisis.
As more and more freelancers, bounty hunters, and many other types of people joined the faction. They decided to have a new name for the faction, to symbolize their new beginning, and the new nature of their faction. After much discussion, a freelancer with significant knowledge stepped forward. He said that the border and edge worlds were all names after letters in the Old Earth language of Greek. And that the Greeks of old had a mythological history. They had many gods and goddesses, including the goddess of hunting, Artemis. The members then named the faction the Artemis Wolves, after the goddess of the hunt and the Old Earth animal, the wolf, which was a deadly hunter that worked in packs.
