Found a prob with a few released ships

While playtesting my mod, i've found that some ship packs have a few problems with them. Mostly, they are:
APS-Pegasus, Griffen and Hydra-They share the same archetype names so the first spawn dictates what the others look like.
The Predator series- Raptor, Predator and Pheonix. The Raptor and Predator share the same archetype names again (I think the pheonix might be ok).
The Blackbird- Had some backfacing edges that look wrong and its HpMount is inside the ship.
Whats the rule on this? Do I request to the shipwrights for permission or can I just re-import them using milkshape? (I would keep everything the same, just change the archetype names).

Before you all jump on me, the idea of re-importing the model is only so that the hard work of the ship modellers is not wasted by something silly like clashing archetype names. If I was to re-import, all credit still goes to the creator of the original models.

I'd suggest fixing the ones that don't have mesh problems by using FL Model Cloner to fix the bad names... easier to do than to import them, re-export them, and then re-hardpoint them or re-import the VMESHDATA and VMESHREFs.

As for the issue of whether or not you're screwing up their work... my suggestion would be to fix 'em, email the creators, and if they don't write back, credit them in your mod. Me being me, I'd probably also do a quick-and-easy ship addon mod via FLMM scripts and put it out seperately- if you're already adding the new ships to your mod that way, then putting them into a seperate ship pack would be a piece of cake, unless you're doing something really weird with these ships and their hardpoints, etc. That way, everybody can use these ships without having problems. At any rate, good catch- there have to be a *lot* of ships out there with these basic problems...

Hmm.. I've tried using FLmodelcloner a couple of times and each time the mat didn't show. Its most likely me making a mess of the hash codes.
I have already done the Predator series and re-adding both of the ships took less than 15 mins.
The way they are now, the APS ships can be used as a buyable players ship. If you have each of the ships buyable at the same base you only see the same one. If you try to add them to a faction, its not a crash but it must get a bit confused.

Ok, well i've done the:
APS Griffen-Hydra-Pegasus series
Raptor-Predator-Pheonix Series

Is there any other ones that need to be done. I can't guarrantee that I'll do them all, i'm mostly going through the ones i'm planning on adding to my mod first. I am going to contact the ship's creators before the mod is released to see if they are happy with it.
I did have a go at the Blackbird (with the backwards faces and MpMount), it was giving me a hard time and i'm not planning on spending hours re-doing much to the ships. So, i am planning to leave that one for now.
There is the Jedi Fighter , the blue one. I have re-imported the model and added the ship exactly as the original except it uses the red skin as well now, so you can have both ship skins in the same mod and use them for factions with them spawning ok.
If people want ships re-done and they aren't too complicated, i'd be happy (enough) to do them. Post up here..

what ship pack is this?i've seen xenos flying these ships in evo and they look nice

Which ones do you mean? The Predator series or the APS Griffen series? The ships are each quite similar to the rest in their series so unless you knew the models, you wouldn't know the ships were spawning wrong.
APS Pegasus, Griffen and Hydra are from APS_ShipPack.zip.flmod
the Predator series was actually "borrowed" from FLrebalance 3.4. It originally came from a mod called level 2. I've tried reaching the level 2 forums, but their site seems to have closed down. APS too funnily enough.

As for level 2, I don't know where MD got them from as he hasn't credited anybody for it in the rebalance files.

Well, popped to the APS forum and it seems to have stopped now. The only posts there were people saying "is it dead yet", I would imagine that if people wanted to use the APS ship packs, just give them the full credit that they deserve.
I've just finished off the Serafina, a model by Jedan (of APS), that was released a while back. Its a good looking freighter that was released as a milkshape file. It will be released allong with the other ships in the soon to be released mod Frontierspace. I'll see if i can do a few stand-alone packs when the mod has been released.

I hardpointed and exported APS ships to .cmp me and the .flmod file created by Chips.

APS is pretty much defunct now so feel free to make fixes/improvements as you see fit. Just make sure that you give the proper credit in any subsequent releases.
