Once again: CMP importer problem

Today I wanted to import the Nomad jumpgate to edit it... But all I get is a very screwed up cluster of polygons. With the nomad city form mission 13 it's the same and probably with some other Nomad models as well.

Queation is: Is this the CMP importer not being able to import some strange kinds of CMPs again? Because this time is actually is no CMP, but a 3db, which again is very strange, because that would have to mean the Nomad city is one group. And that is not the case with all other bigger models...

Anyway... If so, would it be possible to export "something" from the 3db and open it with Milkshape or another modeling tool?

The only way around that... that might work... is to export the VMESHDATA and VMESHREFs over to another CMP, and then try importing that. Probably won't work, though- the "screwed up" CMPs are all ones using a format that the Importer doesn't recognize.

Okay, I used some very simple equipment model (3db, 1 lod) and "transplanted" VMeshData, VMeshRef and even VWireData from the Nomad gate model.

It imported just fine, without any errors... But as you predicted, it didn't work.

So I (knowing nothing about such things) would suggest the problem lies with the format of the VMeshData or VMeshRef or whatever itself and not with how they are positioned in the CMP or 3db. Of course, if this is all nonsense... never mind.

It´s also the same woth the docking ring. I tried to fix two together for one big ring so more ships can land on the same time. But there was the same error as above.

How did you import?
