In need of help for a CMP importer (milkshape)

Hello all,

I'm relatively new to modding so i've been through numerous tutorials etc etc..
I now have milkshape and after succeeding in texturing a model, i'm now looking to start the easy process of adjusting an existing model, before moving onto the next step of making my own. The only problem i encountered up to this point that no matter where i look, i cant seem to find a working cmp importer for milkshape 1.7.1 (and yes i did try the ones you have on this fine site).

Tnx in advance to anyone who can help me with this minor obstacle (if only i persevered at programming, i'd have made an importer myself )

If you can't beat it, shoot it.

AFAIK there are no working importers for milkshape 1.7.1
Unfortunately I am in the same boat with you so I'm restricted to creating scratch new ships although I'd love to modify a couple of the in game ships.

If anyone ever comes up with a new CMP importer it'd sure be nice.
Maybe if we're lucky ColinS will be inclined to make one, his CMP and MAT exporters are sweet!

Hey cool glad it works for you Champs. :-)
Unfortunately for me Milkshape crashes on launch as long as the importer plugin is present in the folder.

Hi all

A cmp importer is at the planning stage, but it may take a while to do. I have some other programs to finish first - time permitting etc.

I haven't had any problems with the last version of the CMP importer so far. The models such as li_dreadnought and br_battleship can be imported into Milkshape 1.7.0+, but the various (destructable) parts need rotating/moving into the correct positions manually. They also need regrouping to get the main parts of the ship at the top of the mesh list.

Hi Colins ...
first time i could read a good news about CMP importer .... i could understand you are busy .. take your time ... of course ... but as soon as possible write a post when you starting to rewrite the importer , please ...

for li_battleship, we load only some part, and i'm not sure after rotating some parts, all parts are available ... for example ...
but i must wait ...
and more, yesteday, i have crash milkshape , i must uninstall it and reinstall it ... arrrrrggggghhhhhhhhhhhh , i damned !!!!

best regards
