Ship disappearing when out of screen

It must have already been answered, but for some reason I can't find where !
So, I've made a ship, placed harpoints and all stuffs. My HpMount is at the bottom of the ship as it should be.
My problem is that when the HpMount get out of screen, the entire ship will disappear...
I have seen the clue somewhere but can't remeber where !
If someone know how to get rid of that bug, pleas tell me, or at least point me to the good post (oh ! and please : dont tell me it's in "Newbie question" ) !

Do a search in the download section for FLAddradius - if you run that on your .cmp file, the problem you mentioned will go away! SPECIAL thanks to Anton for making that awesome tool

Yep..

good call baene..... fladdarius is an awesome tool.. and almost unremarked within the freelancer community....., something that works and fixes the old dissapearing trick.. and it goes almost unnoticed.. It's up there with the .cmp exporter and utf imho....anton should be commended..this is something that has annoyed and perplexed 'shipwrights' for a long time and forced us to use insane lod values in order to see ships... I have only recently started to play with it and suspect it will work just as well with custom weapons...

So get it and use it...(though there is a error in the batch file.. I am going to suggest that anton change that and re-release it...) email anton or me for the fix.. (sorry anton .. not trying to steal your thunder - just trying to help out)

Edit.. this is not a 'newby question' though it has been asked in the past lol.. guilty myself... until this tool came along it would have been suggested you play with lod values.. and entering big numbers.. use this tool and enter standard lod values to suit the individual ships..

I feel humbled by this praise! Thanks Harrier mailed me about the batch file bug, soz all; this was a difference in build name to release name.

For those in need : edit the auto.bat file, fladdradius2a.exe needs to be called fladdradius2.exe then it will work. I missed this as i use the original compilation version not the release version oops

I'm making another prog (as time allows) to allow scaling of models (and maybe other stuff if it works out) without reimporting to Milkshape as i have had a hideous time with this (losing hardpoints etc) and a fixed auto.bat will come with this release. Have patience with me, i'm a novice coder

Also i should point out that i've only written code around Brutus' post telling us about the radius values in the first place. When no-one responded to this info after a week or two i made my effort...

My Arwing model was suffering with that problem too, I guessed it's just because the ship was too wide really and that people would have to grit their teeth and bare it, thanks for the quick fix ^_^

Still doesn't solve the fact in a couple of cutscenes people walk through, or stand inside parts of it... but well, thats life.

Anton - is there a limitation to the radius? I only ask because i was plugging your program to Glock, and he said he used it on a planet sized object, and once in game the object disappeared...I do think he was using v1.0 of your most excellent MUST HAVE program...any ideas?

I will add that i have used Anton's program on 70 of my ships and i've NEVER had a problem. I love that i can see my ships EVERYWHERE now. It's actually pathetic how much i love this little tool hehe - adds a nice touch to models in FL.

/kudos AGAIN to Anton, and the guy who posted this info originally...nice work, and nice find!

@ beane - Yes he will need to use version 2 of addradius. There was a dumb bug in v1 that only picked up the radius if the model was oriented a certain way. Thanks to Silvik for finding that one for me v2 solves it so another go my well be worth the effort.

@glock - love asylum51 mate
