Trouble with texturing:couple questions
Hello, all, I'm a newb to editing, and I am not very clear on how to
a) flip textures i have made in Photoshop (i've read all over in these tutorials about flipping a texture file, but i couldn't find how to..?),
b) what are .mat files? how do i save a texture I have made to the MAT file? this was mentioned in Jackal's Transparent texture Tut, but it doesn't really tell me what that MAT file is or where it is on a comp (sorry, i just am new and do not know very much at all about how to,
and c) when i save a file in Photoshop 7, i try to save as a Targa (or .TGA, right? same thing?) file from hte pulldown, then it asks me if i want 16-, 24-, or 32-bit, i say 32 and "Okay", then try to close Photoshop. It says "Chages have been made; would you like ot save them?" right after i saved it !?
Is 32-bit the kind i need to save as inorder ot get it into Milkshape?
One final questoion: Is it possible to save the weapon and the ship that i have made into a FLMM file? I am running MD's Rebalance Mod3.4 w/the Rebalance Upgrade2.1 . I added my weapon successfully to my game and i can use it in my SP game; but i get kicked from servers on MP after about 30 seconds of gameplay. I don't get a "Cheating detected" or anything, just game crashes back to desktop (only in MP). no one can enter my server, either.
Once I add my ship and my weapon to my files, is there a way to easily save these changes to a FLMM file (would that be a .zip like the ones availabe on LR Download section? like a mod file?) that i could easily turn on and off, so that i can switch b/t MP with regular MOD/settings and SP with my ship and my weapon?

BTW, i have scanned many forums and tutorials on skinning, texturtes, and other related things, but i have been unable to either find the help/info i need, or it's way too detailed/over my head for me to understand (it's Greek-sounding to me). So please don't flame me, as i've made quite an effort to find soe help, have found some here and htere, but I still have these uncertainties. thanks again
