Lightwave to Milkshape problem

If anyone could help me...When i import a Lightwave .lwo into Milkshape, the textures WILL NOT work on Milkshape. I've tried texturing in Lightwave, THEN getting the model into Milkshape, then i tried texturing in Milkshape AFTER the import, but either way, the textures won't transfer right or the model won't...it's odd but to sum it up i can texture just FINE in Lightwave, but when i import to Milkshape, the textures revert to their base color, or when i import a naked model then try to texture, it does the same thing...anyone have any ideas? The versions i'm using are Lightwave : 7.5 and Milkshape 1.7.0 ...i'm stumped lol

can also get me by email at [email protected]

Thanks in advance guys

Baene

I get this problem on occasion too. what i find works well is to triple your mesh in Lightwave, then from light wave export it to .3ds format. then import to Milkshape.

does not work 100% of the time but does work and i find it helps kill the mesh errors you get sometimes from importing lwo files into milkshape

Well..I made a ship in Truespace, converted it to Lightvawe, and then open it with Milkshape.. I textured the milkshape model and the textures stay there..

the only thing is that they don't show in FL, but I'm probably doing something else wrong...

Firewing,

1st: Check your LODRanges , best setting ffor custom ships is : 0, 99999
2nd: Check the spelling in your mat fiole, make sure they are correctly spelled with what you have in the milkshape file, so if you have a material named: cockpit_glass in your ms3d file, in your mat file it should be: under material tree: cockpit_glass , and under your texture tree: cockpit_glass .TGA.

3rd: make sure the scalling is right. you can easily check this by going into freelancer and buy your ship then mount weapons on it.

Hope this helps
