However i dont really remember priv.1 's trading system i do know priv. 2 his is far and far better than freelancer's bad trading system....its all so normal in freelancer, when u have found a good route, u do it for a few hours and u have 3 million, in privateer 2 the prices kept changing, making the entire economy much more interesting...
@Esq, why did you take Bex beer that route? You could take other more profitable items from Bex to Hephaesteus only two jumps away. That was my hexagonal trade route. Bex to Hephaesteus to Karatakus to Janus to Hades to Crius to Anhur back to Bex with nothing in the hold, hopefully I would be able to get a mission near the planet to make the return trip more worth while. Like I said, Bex is horrible for selling commodities.
I never did find the stations or small planets too profitable. I wish I they were more useful. If there was one thing FL excelled at it was broadening the universe that it was full of potential. But again I cite that it was unfortunate that their commodities weren't more limited and prices weren't more dynamic.
However, Privateer 1's trading system for what Bases bought as opposed to sold, and vice versa, was the best. I often bought commodities for two bases in one load, because there weren't enough to fill a hold for one base and there was nothing else profitable to take to that base. The only bad thing was that the profits were too low to do this very effectively. Whereas FL has much too high profits for singular runs.
I will always think Priv 2 has the best trading system, even though I essentially only stuck to the big planets for my routes. The news items that actually affected prices was a really fun feature.

@Tommy, I did that once too ... I was there for about an hour and a half and killed hundreds of fighters. They always came in packs of 4 after the initial wave. Never made any difference on their population.
I now sometimes do that with the Gaians. I heard that if you attack enough of a faction, that their presence will be affected in FL to a point where you'll notice that they are there. When I did a lot of missions for the Gaians at one point, there were often a lot more of them. But they never joined in formation with me like I saw a thread once say they would.

I also think the phase shields (wing commander) are a great idea, only torps can pass them.
I think capital ships are way too weak in freelancer, as in most missions (especially with this mod) u can take on multiple battleships with a heavy fighter...if u would look even at privateer 2 the capital ships really kicked ass, and even a monolith didnt stand a chance against a pirate corvette...oh and by the way, what are ur favourite ships in privateer 2 except for the freij mk II and I, judge on looks not on the strength...
Tommy out
Movin' in for the kill

Even on looks alone the Freij Mk 2 because it really is one I think looks cool as well. It looks tough and rough, not sleek and styled. And I even like the colour. On the other hand, I don't like the Freij Mk 1 as much because it missing it's aggressive lines.
As for others, I like the Heretic, the Kalrechi and the Faldari Mk 2. For trnasports, I like th Ilia, Ilia Mk 2 & the Monolith. For Pirate ships, I like the Jincilla Skull (although it is damn hard to hit), Kiowan Vector and the Papagod Ashearer.
BTW, has anybody ever seen a person in a space suit in Priv 2? I was looking through my booklet at all the ships and on the last page they have a picture of a space suit trooper with this description:

Spacesuit. A rather antiquated device, spacesuits are still occasionally used to conduct repairs or enter a ship covertly. A bit cold and very risky.

My favorite ship in P2 was CIS the military prototype. Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn, were those monsters tough to kill. Even in a fully outfitted Frey II with warp shields, virus transmitters and a ****load of nukes it was freaking impossible. A few hits from their turrets and you were sucking vacuum... ow, did those things hurt.
@Tommy, no ... there's a mission you can take from the Job board where you come across that prototype. I unfortunately took the job and saved over my recently completed game, so I was stuck doing the mission and it kept crashing on me. No big deal, that was on my old computer. I haven't tried the game on this one yet.

Yep I encountered swarm of them on some mission, there is even a patch that lets you to fly in space suit.
As for favorite ships from Priv 2 ships that liked to fly were Icarus & Heretic. And ships I liked but could not fly were Ecantona & Tembler.
