I have five years until I retire for good. How much longer do we have to wait for a super freelancer? I've seen some fantistic Mod work so far and everyone keeps trying to re-invent a new Mod. Why not combine two or three of the big Mods into one. For example, Crossfire and Frontierspace almost cover everything we could want ...for a while at least.
We need a couple of the great Modders to discuss putting together a super Mod until the FL2 or whatever the numbskulls at Microsoft decide on.
I for one, would make a donation for a copy of the Super Mod. I know that some Freelancers don't have a lot of money, but it doesn't need to be big bucks. Donations to the LR culd be used for many things to our common goal. Freelancing!
I've played Elite, ProtoStar, Privateer , Freelancer and DarkStarOne. I played Privateer 1 about two hundred times with all sorts of equipment loads. When Freelancer came out I was saved from playing on Win95 for the rest of my life. DarkStarOne started out as a good game and ended up as a kiddy arcade game.
If I wanted to make my own game I would choose Protostar and Freelancer as the model. However, we HAVE excellent Mods and why not make the effort to put them together? Our goal is to keep the Freelancer universe going, so....?
Most of you youngsters don't care about the future of Freelancer, and I understand that many new things come you way every day. When I first looked at a big airliner it had propellers on it. I was in the Army (on my way to Vietnam for the first time) when Armstrong walked on the moon. I watched the liftoff from the moon's surface, on a Black & White TV. We had Telephone party-lines and rotary dials. I remember Howdy Doody, Captain Kangaroo and Buck Rogers Serials. Gas was 15 cents a gallon. So we have come a long long way. So why do we have to wait on the MicroSoftHeads to decide there is profit enough to make a new Freelancer?
So, before I fade away into the sunset, I want to see a new Freelancer Game. With all the great Mods so far, why not make our own? You guys and gals are some of the best modders on this planet. Yet, you rather re-invent a game than make the one we do have, ten times more fun, interesting and challanging for everyone.
I still play both Crossfire and Frontierspace in Open Player every week. It looks like I may be doing the same old thing till I retire.
Take care, Stay safe and may your God bless you and keep you safe.
Regards to All,
Franco
