I don't quite agree with you Chips. My belief is that the fact he didn't just say: "It was discontinued" or "There will be no sequel to Freelancer in the near future", is due to his intent of injecting a bit of ambiguity. Leaving the decision of wether or not the game is being developed up to the beholder. Consequently, speaking much but saying
nothing . The hope is that people would interpet the response in the way you have interpeted it, Chips, namely negatively. Thus trying to safeguard from rumors based upon substancial evidence, from getting out of hand. Annoying as they are, they have a tendancy of turning into facts. I'm sure some of you can remember the long period between announcement and release of Freelancer and the thereby resulting public pressure the team was subjected to. Further, after release, the game was said to -as a result- have been hyped and claimed not to have lived up to expectations etc. It is only logical that DA is trying to avoid yet another such incident.
My personal experience has been that people tend speak in riddles if they have something to hide.
P.S.
By the way Chips, why are you resolute on playing the antagonist on the subject? I might be going out on a limb, but it seems you know something us rabble do not. Being a member of the TLR staff and a modder, you are very likely to collaborate with DA on various subjects concerning Fl(being a member of TLR suffices). I surmise this puts you and your colleagues as first choice to "informally" know of a sequel...and to quench any founded speculation of "outsiders" within reasonable reach
