Now ive been wondering for quite some time ..when 3.12 be ready for release. Nice video there. Looks promising!

There is a currently a beta of 3.12 that we released to the Evil Empire Server and White Noise Server. You can visit the Evil Empire website here for information on that server (which is in America) and you can visit the White Noise website (located in Australia) here.

About an SP Campaign, there currently isnt one, Harrier and I discussed the possibility of making a mod that is SP compatible. One day it may happen, however it would take a lot of work to revert back from Open SP. Right now we are focusing on making the mod gameplay as good as we can. But we have SP compatibility high up on our list of possible additions.

Greetings from Planet Ninja! (Formerly known as Planet Viator)

There's been a looong absence of my good self from TLR, and from freelancer in general, mainly to do with real life issues, GTA:SA and Civ III.

Anyway, I haven't forgotten about the whole music deal i promised, and I should be posting links to stuff soon.

Hi,
First of all, Espilon is a great MOD. I really like it.
Thanks to the whole Nova Design Team.

I wanted to make some suggestions for the final realease of the 3.12 version.
1. Is it possible to increase the rank that players can reach?
2. Is it possible for the Hermes and Nemesis to deny docking with stations and battleships?
3. Can you add some Battleship Encounters to some systems?
4. Some new commodities would be great for the final release.

Your questions:

1. Is it possible to increase the rank that players can reach?

Yes .. We can do this with a server side patch.. opening up levels to about 99

2. Is it possible for the Hermes and Nemesis to deny docking with stations and battleships?

Maybe, but I dont know how.. and I have never seen a solution to this problem.. I have gone on about this at length in another thread .. but there is AFIK no solution.. other than rescaling (which makes custom weapons redundant)and the necessary (logical) adjustment to cargo sizes.. which would compromise these ships..

For mine.. I guess players live with it and get smart about where the profits lie..as the capacity of these two ships make profits enormous even at lower margins.... and we continue to get the complaints from the instant millionairs...

OR,

We drastically modify or remove them from the game.. from the feedback we get it looks like small freighters that can 'dock with a rock' are the go.. profits will need (for some realism) to be adjusted accordingly...

The Hermes and the Nemesis are very useful powerful ships, but owning one requires some thought..

Which is best..?

3. Can you add some Battleship Encounters to some systems?

Battleship encounters will generally lag servers severely, however having said that.. we are planning on adding what could loosly be called a 'battlecruiser' to EDI... and may plan missions.. BUT DO NOT ATTEMPT THEM ALONE.. lol

The Preatorian - will be - in the true sense of the word.. OFFENSIVE!! its armament: multifire main and secondary guns, and multifire anti-ship defensive torpedo's will see to that..

Doing this requires a huge amount of work and at best you may see a single 'battlecruiser' with a 'cover' of offensive and defensive fighters, minefields and the like.. the rewards should be 'adequate'..
If you think on it a bit an encounter with a capitol ship and the defensive screen she could throw up .. should be the most dangerous hazardous mission there can be.. not just a pop-out - blow-the-opposition-to-oblivion-then-go-back-and-collect-a-fistful-of-cash-without-a-scratch-on-the-paintwork mission.. but something that players approach with due caution and teamwork..

4. Some new commodities would be great for the final release.

Possible but at this point unlikely..

We are working on some trade routes and the two files that we still have to do some work on is weapons and equipment on lots of bases plus some allocation for commodites,, Currently there are 'pocket profits' that can again pay dividends tho.. it also requires teamwork .. mainly mining.. one player buys a freighter another player(s) run fighters.. the fighters run the screen and take on the nasties (and mine in the lulls) the freighter mines and collects..., discarding what is not profitable. The hold full, it's back to base, divide the profits.. and its fun.. the only real problem is the life of the freighter captain can be boring... but there are some very high yield fields out there..

So, will there be an external patch for it or will it implemented in the final release? Cause I think players will have even more fun if they can reach higher levels. If it'a an external patch, can you send me a copy per mail?

You are absolutly right with your answer that rescaling or removing will destroy the fun with those ships and that traders will have to live with profit at lower margins.
But when the game would give a message "Docking not possible", then complaits about stucked Hermes and Nemesis will have an end. :-)
This was my idea... The ships are great as they are now.

3. Can you add some Battleship Encounters to some systems?

I didn't knew that capitol ship encounters causes lag on servers, but i thought that this could be fun when you encounter such a beast in space. So until now there will only be such an ecounter on missions (I guess) against EDI. I guess that more teamwork missions will make the game even more interesting.

4. Some new commodities would be great for the final release.

That's ok. I guess it will be sufficient when traders will have a greater choice with traderoutes and places where they can sell their stuff. :-)

What I want is in my signature, but also, a memorial to, and/or a new Freeport Seven. September 11, is the equivalent to Freeport seven in the game, and also maybe a bunch of level 10 liberty fighters protecting to the memorial and/or New Freeport 7. Freeport Seven gives the game meaning... even when the missions are over. And I also would like to have an easier ability to have reputations that are good with the normal freelancer factions, they should know who saved the world shouldn't they? The newer factions should be less free to putting you down as an ally. Except for former order people of course. Which I do hope you actually do put in some allies... Maybe the Italians, a few escaped from the Starlancer war and were discovered and met with the Kusari? It would be quite ausome. And maybe the French discovered by Libertians. It would be truly ausome.


Also a ship called an Orashev. And more fighter pilots w/ level 10 weapons and more powerful cells.

And could someone give me the stats of the Nemesis so I can compare it with the Hermes?

Battleships,are made for battle, so therefore should be used to such thing as level 10 fighters. And, should be more powerful, and have better defence. For instance, if fighter has 600 attack times 8.33 refire 750 speed and range, then a battleship, should have 1200 range and speed 3OOO damage, and a refire of 4 for guns. Battleships should be able to only go 45 klm, except for having thrusters and cruise engines. And expensive. Base weapons should have 4000 attack 2000 range and speed and 4.00 refire.

Much of the info is in the readme file however the ships generally are not.. Mostly you have to go looking for them.., adds to the sense of exploring.. There is a lot of ship info in the mod posts.., except I'm not sure if they actually include point of purchase

The mod is great except for the Exiles and planet San Sebastian. My rating with them is green but if some other group is around when I get to the docking ring it turns red and so do all the Exiles. I landed took a mission and then could not finish it because of the above problem. The other thing they identify themselves not as Exiles but Corsairs when hailed or about to dock.

That is due to complex faction relations, you may be friendly with Exiles, but if you are hostile with their allies, they will not take kindly to you when their allies are around. You find instances of this in vanilla Freelancer as well.

About the hailing...They ID as Corsairs because we would have to make a new soundboard to have all factions ID uniquely, and at the sacrifice of that, we have left out custom sounds for the most part. It is easily possible, but it would sound funny, it would have the FL voices for half of it, and "Exiles" would be in another voice...

I just started and I'm not sure if I'm having a problem or if I just don't understand. I've done about half a dozen missions and have a worth of like $20k+ but I'm still at level one. It said till the next level was $1000 something, so I did a mission for $2,800, and not it says I have like $3000 to level 2. Glitch or what?
