Cool bug

I don't know if this is a MOD bug, but I suspect it is not. I'm only using the Slave 1 mod currently. I suspect this has happened to others though - please reply if so!

I was harassing a pirate base somewhere between Bretonian and Rheinland space this morning when I noticed I was flying backwards through the clouds. More specifically, my ship was either moving forward at 999km/h, or gradually slipping backwards at about 186km/h. It made for some very interesting dogfights - it was like being stuck on a spring! I could line up & kill the bad guys at the ends of the arcs, but their missiles and shots missed me completely. When I hit afterburner, the ship would to 299 or 300 km/h forward. When I hit the cruise drive, all normal control resumed.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I don't think this is a bug, it happens when you kill you engines. You can press "z" (default key) and you will continue forward with your momentum. This is useful when you are being chased by the enemy, you kill you engines and turn around to face them. You can then fire off shot while you continue forwards. I hope thats what you are talking about. If you already know about the engine kill, i'm sorry i probably bored you!

hey dudes

actually its a side effect of using more than one engine - instead of killing your engines and letting you "slip" it accelerates you to 999 and alows it.to get out of it quick just move your throttle slighly and you revert to normal speed
i discovered this by accident while i was making my mod (the klingon one) and had to release a fixed version for those folks who used the "z" key in dogfights - dont try it in an asteroid field by the way (unless you REALLY like playing pinball)
i had to make a modified engine with double speed to fix it (my friends are speed freaks and insisted i make the ship the same speed)
you can test this by modifying your own mods or you could download the 2 of mine that have it as a "feature" ( ok ok a bug)

the original klingon wif it is here;

800 kb

or the one that deliberately adds it to new titans here;

1 kb

i think its cool - makes getting to the waypoint a lot quicker but i can see how it would give you a nasty shock in combat if you werent expecting it.
