Lagged to Death

For reference, I am stuck with 56k dialup...


OK, I can join multiplayer games with no problems whatsoever. I can zoom around the manhattan system with ease. I run into a little lag when the area gets loads of ships or tons of radio traffice, but it's tolerable. My problem comes when I go through a system jump gate. For example, the first one you come to while in the Manhattan system (that goes to California ??) I'll enter and the lovely 'worm-hole' animation appears, the second it ends my HUD is normal for about 2 seconds, at which point my shields and armor are completely destroyed by hostile ships. My theory is that the server puts my ship in the new system well in advance of my computer realizing it is, therefore I am a sitting duck for hostile ships and they destroy me prior to my computer 'catching up'.

Does anyone know of anyway to avoid this or is this something I'm going to have to deal with? Being stuck in the Manhattan system the entire time really blows!!! And without being able to fix this problem I have I cannot leave it!!!

find a server with a lower ping, less mods, or get a faster connection

u might have problems with V.card or memory/cpu what is your comp stats and internet speed?
