Radeon 9800 Pro problem
I know this subject has been posted over and over but I am at a serious loss as to what I should do and none of the information found was really useful.
Whenever I play Freelancer and move the cursor over any highlightable text in places such as the main menu, the FPS go down enormously from an average of 75 frames to a crappy 25 frames. I have no clue what to do and any suggestions are welcome.
I have a lead as to where the problem could be fixed: in the flconfigdatabase.txt file in the EXE folder, it seems that there is no support for the 9800 or for ANY of the R360 graphics processors. So if anyone knows what to do in that file, please tell me!
My current system is the following one:
AMD Athlon XP 2500+ @1.83 (11*166)
AOpen AK79D-400VN (NF2 Ultra 400 + MPC)
512MB Kingston PC3200 DDR RAM @ 166MHz (2-3-3-7)
BB ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
120GB WD 8MB Cache
LG DVD ROM
Pioneer A06 DVD Burner
Win2k
I have all the latest drivers for motherboard, video card, OS patches, etc.
So any help would be appreciated. Don't be afraid to go indepth about hardware and software. I know the lingo...
Thanks!
