Reinstalling constantly....

The place to ask for technical help with running the demo or the full game...

Reinstalling constantly....

Everytime I want to play, I have to re-install the game...I can play it immediately following a re-install, but any other time I just get an hourglass for a second, then nothing. this happens when launching from the shortcut, the main .exe, and from the CD. I have seen other posts here about it but no fix for it. Thus far I have: Deleted the contents of my temp folder, deleted the contents of my prefetch folder and allowed windows to manage my swap file settings. None of these have helped....Anybody got any official word on this problem??

specs:
Athlon 1.2gig Tbird
512mb DDR
Radeon 9700pro
WinXP Pro

The other folks had dis-similiar setups from mine, so I doubt its anything in my machine specifically. I have no other issues, so I believe its a problem with the game...Does MS support this game or Digital Anvil??

thanx

How often do you defrag? Not defragging will do this often. I also suggest gettin a Norton computer care suite, with Windoctor. That program has saved me a whole lot of trouble.

I defrag as often as my machine needs it. I am not currently fragmented, and I also only just formatted not 2 weeks ago. Besides, if it was a disk sector/cluster issue, wouldnt I see this type of problem in other applications as well?

*edit*
If I sounded cold or unappreciative, I apologize! No animosity intended. Just re-read it and I seemed a little...I dunno, assholish...no offense intended. Just trying to respond as much to the point as possiblem...

Thanx

Next time you start up FL make a note of the time, once you've finished your FL session do a search for any files that where created/modified during your session. Look for any files that have a .tmp file extension or any folders that start with a tilde (~), move/delete these files and try to start up FL.

If this doesn't work then I'm afraid I can't help any further - I run Win 2000 Pro and I've had the same kind of problems as you are experiencing, not only with FL but with other games, removing these temp files/folders has always fixed the problem.

Hope this helps.
