Hard Drive dead??

Well my hdd is pretty old, and Freelancer, along with other games will take forever to load, cache alot, or get alot of slow downs due to hdd loading.

Probably just "burned out", but is there anything i can do to help it along? = thx...

I wouldn't say dead.. just really old. Do you know what the cache happens to be on it? 2MB 4MB?? How about the speed of it.. ATA100? 5400 RPM? Those kinda things can really make it take longer to load. You also mention it's old, consider a new one. HDD's are cheap these days man.

make sure its running in DMA mode.
