Has the Asteroid rendering limit been cracked yet?

Hello,

Haven't looked into Freelancer for quite a long while until the last few days.

And I wonderded if someone has already found a fix for the asteroids not being rendered beyond about 130,000 from a System's center...

If so, please point me to the solution.

I really hate to bump posts, but I'm just curious if noone else ever had a problem with the asteroids in a larger (> 130K radius) system?

Noone reacted sofar, which implies that:

-1- noone ever tried to put an asteroid field more to the fringes of a larger system;
-2- those who did, never had the same issue as I have (being that the asteroids won't render beyond 130K from the system's center);
-3- those who did, did have the same issue but never solved it and consequently didn't feel like responding to my question...

Anybody any thoughts on this?

Wekk, that seems like I'll have to live with it... I tried to search for "130000" and values close to that in the .exe and some of the dll's, analog to how the plaet problem was solved. But couldn't find anything.

Just on the off-chance, did you try as float value too?

pfoo 't was a long time ago... I honestly can't remember...

I just tried it on the spot and HexWorkshop finds one instance (of 130000 floating point) at 0014C5D7 - which is not at the beginning of a four-digit block, so I think this is just a coincidence... (My skills in Hex editing are limited to performing some hacks described here on the forum). But I'll try if it works.

Btw nice seeing you Anton. It seems like this game is here to stay

Well, at first it seemed to work. But it failed at a second test.

I think I mistook the combi of billboards and dynamic asteroids (those are immune to the asteroid limit) for asteroids.

I'll keep trying (when I feel like it )
