There is a good reason why we don't want to have discussions about cloaking...
First of all it don't work in Singleplayer, the AI can see you anyway....

And in Multiplayer too many people abused it, so much so that some of the servers closed down because of all the problems it caused.

While you may think it would be cool to sneak up on some character and blast them into space dust they may laugh the first time it happens but when it happens constantly the fun just isn't there anymore.

So I hope you can now understand why nobody that has been here for any length of time is willing to discuss cloaking.

I do understand why people aren't allowed to discuss such things in these forums nut, I'd also like to know if anyone has a place we can chat about such things.
Might be useful as the Admin of my own server to be able to spy on trouble makers.
Could always remove said enhancemenrs later if they didn't work right or got abused.

im working on a real cloak that is no cheat at all (there are ways to detect cloaked ships under special conditions)
but i wont say more about it due to the rules of this forum

But I thougt that firing when cloaked is impossible.
I've put a cloack in ship package, bought it, I couldn't shoot, but couldn't uncloack also...
I tried it about 6 months ago, so I could forget something, but seems it was like I said.

Afaik all cloackings in mods are moded mines, maybe they allow shooting, don't know

So what is the truth, can anybody clear things up to me, please?

I think, such discussions should be allowd here also, because cloacking(the way it will not spoil the game, what way - hope we can find out discussing it) could become nice add to the game.
But to announce here how to make cloacking possible(the way we know it today) has to be forbidden.
Probably it should be special thread accessible to members only, maybe depending on their TLR rank.

Those who want to know it should search other web places or e-mail to those who knows, Iguess.

personally i believe that discussions about cloaks should be devided into "cheats" and "usefulls" stuff

but the problem is the definition of those
on one server it allowed on the other not... and alot of ppl could use the information from normal useful discussions to create cloak mods (ok there is already one)

i also think that no single admin does need a cloak cheat to do his job (on some servers they use them)

Well, the cloak as we know it is impossible to use on the most popular servers anyway. Trying to get / mount it will always result in an instand ban.

However with recent advancements in what is possible on and with servers, FLHook in particular, wouldn't it be also possible to use the cloak the way it would have been meant to use? Mount it on the cloak hardpoint, then use some clientside tool similar to FLHook to trigger the cloak once the user pushes the appropriate button.

well, you know what they say, with great power comes great responsibility.

Some server admins do use the cloaking but thats for admins only, personally swat, youll probably be a FL hero if you get what you said working, adding it would add ALOT more spice and make it more challenging if it was detectable. I have yet to figure out a way to make it usable for my PURE PvP mod im working on slowly (the usage for this is for admins only, recording basically without getting in the way of people fighting, etc).

You don't need to spam the forums in order to get promoted because it don't mean you are a special character anyway, the higher your rank the more you have to offer, or don't, depending on how you look at it.

sorry if I offended you my response was directed at Lancerlover because, he implied that if there was such a thread he would like it to be limited to people that had high post counts
in my experience with other forums people are not smarter beacuse of more posts
some I've seen with high amounts of posts act way more immature than kids
that doesn't imply that all people are like that
heck I've seen elderly people that are sane but, alot more immature than any kids I know
my main point is that experience doesn't always mean you have the knowledge or maturity people might expect

I would like to see a site that would help explain about some of the topics that are banned here (like the cloak)
am quite interested in testing controlled use of it on my server
if things get out of hand I can ban trouble makers and put anticheat mods on the server as well so, I'm not worried about abuse
if it happens I can handle adding the necessary fixes
