Hey guys, just a tiddbit to throw out there, you can cross the hardpoints for weapons in the shiparch.ini file. Course you guys probably all have milkshape or gmax but for guys like me who dont, there it is. Also I was wondering If there is any way to get shipediting programs (aside from milkshape of course) without downloading. I cant even get the milkshape trial because it does download but the dl is corrupt.

Remembered a questions. I made a mod to change the starting graphic and ship, but the game will not let me create a new character with these mods activated in MP, I didn't touch the file in the EXE folder, just edited the .ini in the DATA/CHARACTERS folder. Anybody know whats wrong?

Hey guys, which files do u edit in order to give your eagle different lights. Lights as in those blinking lights found on the eagle. I have a friend that put half green, the other half red, and thought that its pretty neat.

Second, Is there anyway to mod a mine launcher to drop Zone 21 mines?

Thirdly, is there, so far, anyway to mod Trade Lane speeds?

Lights for you is in your ship package in Goods.ini, Lights for npcs are in loadouts.ini.

Zone 21 mines are solars so no can do. Don't know if you can use the archetype for one of your mines though.

Goods.ini file for the lights, find the package for the eagle (think its ge_fighter6).

Zone 21 mines? Hmm - not thought about it, but seeing as they are NOT in weapon_equip.ini file, erm - no. It might be, but to be honest, i have MUCH better things to be doing than trying to get it to work, and seeing as i don't think its possible........i am going to say no

However - I see no reason why you cannot utilise their appearance for existing mines, and drop those instead.................

Hi Chips - this problem is driving me nuts. I want to alter weapon effects and explosions. I know they're .ale files, but BINI doesn't work and UTF ed gets garbage out.

Cannot do ale files. you don't need to use ale files for basic effects, but if your wanting a projectile to look like a flying dragon............then i think you are in for a very very tough time at modding

See effects.ini and beam_effects.ini file for making own weapons effects from existing ones. Copy and entry and change its stats in beam_effects so that it has longer beam, different colours etc etc. Then - make a new entry referencing that in the effects.ini file. Then shove it into weapons_equip as the effect (not positive that i got names the correct way round, but I am not looking at ini files here!). Alternatievly, you can steal effects from other places for explosions and the hit effects. It uses different files of course.Explosions.ini and effects_explosions.ini

I wish i had kept a link Eraser gave to me. It was a site where you put in YOUR extension name ending (ie ale) and it would tell you what.......if any.......application could open it

Effects.ini only points the game to .ale files...thanks anyway though. my friend wanted an EMP like the Nebuchadnezzar one in the Matrix. I could get it to work, but it only looked like a regular mine explosion. ah well.

I noticed the post about getting a diffrent ship than starflier in the other newbie thread, and suddenly i feel like playing sp again =P

Anyhow, it only mentioned how to change it for the eagle, but i would like an other ship, so i wondered if you guys could tell me the ship codes for Valkyrie, Banshee and Sabre

Banshee is rh_fighter, Valkyrie is rh_elite, Sabre is bw_elite2

so i just type in bw_elite2, gd_gm_bw_elite2_loadout01

for the sabre and well...the same with changes for the others?

LOL that one is a problem. Check there's an engine in the loadout, it's loadouts.ini in the SHIPS folder

pylse - without engine? Sounds like you chose the loadout for a wreck.

you can change the thing by the newcharacter.ini in the characters folder - where you can change the loadout and ship very easily.

I chose a loadout that didn't exist =P

But it works now, i'll probably fiddle a bit with it, but that's part of the fun ^^
