You never get another chance to make a first impression. If you're going to require an emoticon to get your post thead stated, than maybe it shouldn't be the lead post but a follow-up to someone else?
It's a fine art to catch someone's attn in a one liner. That art isn't reserved for only those that speak the language well. State the fect of the post and let the content tell the tale. I just truly believe emoticons used to catch your eye or announce the post is bogus and is just confusing.
Elevate the standards, don't lower the bar.

Some people do not know what an emoticon is nor what it may mean. I run into them ever day of my life. Granted they aren't all gamers. But the point is to believe an emoticon is nessesary in a one liner subject is tougher than just saying what you mean. Easier to understand too.

I hate opening a message based on the original post content and finding something totally different than what I was expecting to see. Usually it becomes a waste of my time.
